The AI Accelerator Programme is training civil servants in the key principles needed to begin developing their own AI tools for use across departments. The course run by Government Digital and Data will teach learners essential skills such as scalability, reliability, software testing, and quality assurance; as well as exploring the ethics of AI. Developing bespoke AI tools will help improve services like tax administration, healthcare and law enforcement, by making them more efficient. The first cohort have just begun. The UK is a magnet for AI companies and attracts investment from across the world. At the NVIDIA GTC conference this week in San Jose, Technology Secretary Peter Kyle spoke about how our new AI Growth Zones will accelerate international investment through improved regulation and dedicated infrastructure, helping to grow our $92 billion AI sector. While in the US, he met with quantum focused Rigetti Computing and tech companies OpenAI, Anthropic, and Vantage Data Centers to further position the UK as a global hub for AI investment, with the latter recently investing £12 billion into UK data infrastructure which will create 11,500 jobs.
