Located only four miles apart on the South Coast of England, these two rural properties were both designed by NDM Architects. Light pollution was a major factor in the planning process for each property. Interestingly - after weighing up how much light pollution the extensive amount of glazing in the first property would cause, particularly in an AONB - the design was accepted, with the dwelling becoming the first of this style in this area of Dorset. The glazing element in the design of the second property, however, had to be drastically reduced in order to obtain planning permission. Our glazing sits in three distinct pods, each capturing different aspects of the hillside views. Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming roofing manufacturer Hambleside Danelaw into our office to present their CPD on Rooftile Underlays. At NDM Architects, continued learning is a core part of our business, ensuring we stay at the forefront of new technologies and methods that will deliver the most practical and cost-effective solutions to our clients. Over the course of the year, we always make an effort to bring our team together for regular CPD’s from industry leading suppliers. Roofing Underlays are an important part of construction detailing, however it’s all too easy to take them for granted. It was great to expand our knowledge on the different types of systems and key points to consider when specifying the most suitable materials for our clients’ build projects.
