About us
KTA is an Exeter based Studio whose roots go back to 1984, with a group of design professionals with considerable experience and an enviable reputation working on a number of projects across the UK. That reputation is based on winning a substantial number of awards, including six coveted Civic Trust Awards. Several quality public and private buildings are the result of national competition triumphs. View our projects at www.kta.uk.com. We are involved in many Sectors including Learning, Health, Living, Commercial, Sports/Stadia, Hospitality/Leisure, Aviation and Arts/Culture. We believe that skilful architects have the opportunity to enhance people’s lives and it is this which forms the enthusiastic design philosophy of the Studio. The two Directors have assembled a dedicated and enthusiastic team of Architects and Technicians, backed up by state of the art Revit facilities throughout. An in-house service is provided by a visualisation team who can produce the very latest presentation material, perspectives, colour and interiors, all backed up by ‘walk through’ and ‘fly through’ productions using drone footage. We can give Clients a virtual reality of our designs through VR headsets: this has proved to be a very popular and effective tool, which underwrites our own design decisions with truthful techniques. Our design teams always aim to provide visually exciting and workable schemes that fit Clients’ needs. We are always very conscious of budget and quality and we are very proud of our reputation in all these respects.

It meets a growing need for flexible offices, workshops and laboratories for companies working in the STEMM sectors, who have outgrown the Park’s incubation spaces. Over three floors, this striking building is an adaptable, futureproofed, commercially-viable space which is Net Zero Carbon in operation, has an A+ energy performance rating and is a pleasure to work in. The building achieved BREEAM Excellent. Shortlisted for the Michelmores Property Awards Project under £5m 2021 EXPEDITE Hulley and Kirkwood Eco Doodle Red Twin Limited progressive

KTA are delighted to have assisted in delivering the relocation of Mammography Screening Services for the UHP NHS Trust. Relocated in the existing Merchant building, the new facility will bring mammography patients to the centre of Plymouth making it more accessible for patients to receive care. Despite initial challenges in finding the right location appropriate for the services required, the team have been able to design the existing unit at the Merchant to provide a more robust and permanent solution for the screening services – which we feel is a great improvement to where they were previously located! The unit has been internally refurbished to provide two mammography rooms, a welcoming reception with a patient wait area, and facilities in support of the screening services. The design includes digi-clad feature walls in the mammography rooms to create a pleasant environment for patients as they undergo screening. Also working with the existing external glazing, we introduced window films to provide patients and staff the privacy they need while conducting day-to-day activities in the unit.
