Exciting News for South West Wales! 🚀 The UK Government has announced a major investment in gigabit-capable connectivity for rural towns and villages in south west Wales as part of Project Gigabit. This initiative aims to deliver ultra-fast broadband to hard-to-reach areas by 2030, supporting economic growth and removing barriers to opportunity.   Key highlights include: 🌐 Enhanced Connectivity: Bringing some of the fastest broadband speeds to rural communities. 🌐 Economic Growth: Supporting local businesses and providing better opportunities for young people. 🌐 Community Support: Ensuring no one is left behind in the digital age.   Cllr Rob Stewart, Leader of Swansea Council, and Neath Port Talbot Councillor Jeremy Hurley both expressed their enthusiasm for this transformative initiative.

📢 Neath Port Talbot Council is seeking a suitable organisation to lease and manage the soon to be refurbished Grade II listed, former Neath Library, situated at Victoria Gardens, Neath SA11 3BA. The former Neath Library is a much-loved building that was constructed in 1904 within the heart of the town centre, to provide a public library service for the town of Neath.   Following the successful move of the library to a new site nearby, the building is to be renovated within the parameters of its Listed Building status, for use as a ‘Creative Industries Hub’. This will consist of flexible use workspaces and offices, with an emphasis on creative and cultural industries such as arts, digital, writing, illustration, photography, podcasting, events, consultancy and associated professional services. The Council wishes to engage with and secure a preferred operator at an early stage, to ensure that on-going development and design of the facility is appropriate, in order to maximise opportunity and ensure the long-term sustainability of the venue. 💻 Mae Openreach wedi cyhoeddi cynlluniau i osod band eang ffeibr yn ardal Cwm-twrch Uchaf gan gynnwys ardaloedd Heol Rhiwfawr, Heol Rhiw, Heol Coedffaldau a Chwmllynfell, drwy eu rhaglen Partneriaeth Gymunedol Ffeibr. Mae'r Bartneriaeth Gymunedol Ffeibr yn caniatáu i Openreach uwchraddio'r seilwaith band eang presennol drwy i safleoedd cymwys addo rhoi eu taleb Band Eang Gigadid Llywodraeth y DU i'r prosiect. 💻 Openreach has announced plans to install fibre broadband in the Upper Cwmtwrch area including areas of Rhiwfawr Rd, Rhiw Rd, Coedffaldau Rd and Cwmllynfell, through their Fibre Community Partnership (FCP) programme. The Fibre Community Partnership allows Openreach to upgrade existing #broadband infrastructure by having eligible premises pledge their UK Government Gigabit Broadband voucher to the project. Once a target amount of pledges is received, Openreach can then move forward to installing the fibre broadband infrastructure in the area. Residents can check if they qualify and pledge their voucher on the ‘Connect My Community’ website. The decision on the fibre infrastructure build, the scope of premises covered, and the timeline are all subject to technical surveys, as well as the number of vouches pledged by the community.  The validated vouchers do not bear any cost to residents and sufficient take up will enable Openreach to work with a local community to build a customised, co-funded network. However, once the infrastructure is in place, residents are committed to ordering an ultrafast #fullfibre broadband package from a provider who uses the Openreach network, for a minimum of 12-months. This project will mainly benefit #NeathPortTalbot residents in the area, but also extends into parts of Carmarthenshire County Council and Powys County Council, as the areas included are on the boundaries of these neighbouring counties. Mae Rhaglen Seilwaith Digidol Bargen Ddinesig Bae Abertawe, gyda chymorth o’r Gronfa Band Eang Lleol, wedi llwyddo i gwblhau 50% o'i phrosiect Adeiladu Seilwaith Ffeibr Llawn.   Mae'r garreg filltir arwyddocaol hon yn gam mawr ymlaen o ran gwella cysylltedd digidol i safleoedd sector cyhoeddus ledled y rhanbarth, gyda manteision ariannol a chymdeithasol sylweddol i gymunedau cyfagos.   Nod adeiladu'r seilwaith #FfeibrLlawn, a ddarperir gan BT Group drwy Brosiect Cydgasglu Band Eang y Sector Cyhoeddus a ariennir gan Lywodraeth Cymru, yw darparu gwell darpariaeth band eang i safleoedd sector cyhoeddus ledled y rhanbarth.   Mae Prosiect Cydgasglu Band Eang y Sector Cyhoeddus yn cysylltu sefydliadau'r sector cyhoeddus â Rhwydwaith Ardal Eang preifat, diogel, sy'n cynnig gwasanaeth a reolir yn llawn sy'n gwella cysylltedd hanfodol i fusnes, ac sy'n caniatáu i sefydliadau'r sector cyhoeddus elwa o wasanaethau rhwydwaith arloesol, cost-effeithiol a chadarn sy'n sbarduno cynhyrchiant.   Mae buddiolwyr y prosiect yn cynnwys pob un o'r pedwar awdurdod lleol ar draws Dinas-ranbarth Bae Abertawe, Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Hywel Dda a Bwrdd Iechyd Prifysgol Bae Abertawe.   Nod y prosiect yw cyflwyno band eang ffeibr llawn i 69 o safleoedd dan berchnogaeth gyhoeddus sydd angen gwell seilwaith. Mae'r fenter hon yn darparu cysylltedd cyflym, dibynadwy, wedi'i ddiogelu i'r dyfodol i fodloni gofynion digidol cynyddol a chefnogi agendâu trawsnewid digidol ehangach y sector cyhoeddus. Mae'r prosiect yn addo gwasanaethau mwy effeithlon a gwell profiadau i breswylwyr a busnesau, arbedion cost i bartneriaid, a'r potensial ar gyfer cymwysiadau digidol arloesol fel realiti estynedig (AR) a phrofiadau realiti rhithwir (VR) mewn lleoliadau twristiaeth allweddol fel Parc Gwledig Pen-bre a Pharc Gwledig Margam.   Yn ogystal, bydd tua 425 o adeiladau preswyl a busnes yn elwa o fand eang gwell o ganlyniad, a disgwylir i'r prosiect ysgogi buddsoddiad masnachol pellach, gan gyflymu'r broses o gyflwyno rhwydweithiau ffeibr llawn ar draws y rhanbarth.   Bydd y buddsoddiad ar y cyd hwn o £2m (£1.05m ohono wedi ei sicrhau gan y Rhaglen Seilwaith Digidol o Gronfa Band Eang Lleol Llywodraeth Cymru) yn darparu uwchraddiadau hanfodol i seilwaith a fydd yn gwella ansawdd bywyd i breswylwyr a busnesau, denu buddsoddiad newydd, ac ysgogi twf economaidd. Mae safleoedd sydd wedi'u cwblhau yn y cam hwn yn cynnwys lleoliadau strategol sy'n hanfodol i ddarparu gwasanaethau cyhoeddus. Mae'r safleoedd hyn wedi'u blaenoriaethu i sicrhau'r effaith fwyaf ar y gymuned a sicrhau'r defnydd mwyaf effeithlon o adnoddau.
