A great day today launching the State of the Coast Report with the East Grampian Coastal Partnership! You can view the report at: www.stateofthecoast.scot This report covers Fraserburgh to St Cyrus, looking at the state of the coast in terms of biodiversity, habitats, recreation, society, the fishing industry, the maritime industry, litter and pollution, and climate change. I worked mostly on the biodiversity and habitats sections, but contributed to all of the report (including a lot of proof-reading and editing!). Today we looked at what the report has achieved, and workshopped how best to improve the report and engage people with it. We also heard about the coastal and marine environment from some excellent speakers from Clyde Marine Planning Partnership (NatureScot), Scottish Government's Marine Directorate, NESCAN Hub, NESBReC, Scottish White Fish Producers' Association, and OEUK LIMITED. This is only the beginning. I'm excited to see where the report goes in the future and how it can contribute to marine and coastal engagement and planning!

Crofters in North Uist and South Uist have praised our teams for their peatland restoration work, which has opened up new grazing areas while stabilising large areas of degraded peatland. Peatland is a major natural carbon sink. So, as a major land owner, we aim to restore up to 600 hectares across our own assets in Scotland, while also working to support other landowners. Our latest projects in the Outer Hebrides are helping to protect natural carbon stores in the peat, and reduce organic matter from washing into our drinking water supplies on the islands. 🌍💧 Here’s our stunning film - and watch out for some local, Gaelic cows! Udny Climate Action's 'Fit is Retrofit' booklet is now available: https://lnkd.in/eeNZG3UP The project funded five householders to have whole house retrofit assessments with a view to exploring their views of process, the recommendations and whether they intend to undertake any work following this. The houses involved were selected on the basis of various types. The overall purpose of the project has been to raise awareness throughout the community of the value and challenges of retrofit.
