One of our most asked questions is ‘Why don’t you fly to more destinations?’... And it is a great question, with a lot that goes into the answer: ⏳ Long-term strategy - Airlines start prepping their schedules around 15 months in advance. So, decisions today might only take off later on… excuse the pun 😉 🔎 Market research - We survey passenger needs to guide our discussions with airlines, ensuring we're pushing for routes you'll actually use! 💪 Fleet - Does the airline have enough planes and crew to support the route? This can be a major factor. 🏠 Slots - Even if the demand is there, the airline must find a slot in their schedule and at the destination airport. 💰 Profitability - the route needs to be sustainable for the airline. If it doesn't turn a profit, they won't keep it. 🏅 Competitors - We see people travelling to Exeter or Bristol Airport if they can get a cheaper fare… not factoring in parking and petrol 👀 Airlines take this into account when deciding whether to add a new route here at CAN. 🚨 February stats are in 🚨 From Valentine's to Pancake Day, February was a busy one! 16,869 passengers passed through our terminal whilst 1,318 air traffic movements busied the skies! This month also marked a major milestone for CAN, as we officially phased out our old security system and are now fully equipped with state-of-the-art Rapiscan scanners. These advanced systems eliminate the need for passengers to remove liquids and electronics from their hand luggage, streamlining the screening process. 💻Electrical devices can remain inside your hand luggage for screening. 🪙Please remember to remove everything from your pockets as this may activate the body scanner 🧢Remove all outer clothing, such as coats, jackets, hats and scarves. 🫗 Liquids under 100ml can remain in your hand luggage.
