Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, Neil Gray, visited our contact centre in South Queensferry yesterday to find out more about NHS 24's preparations for the busy festive period. Expressing his gratitude to staff for their commitment to delivering vital services during challenging times, Mr Gray said, “The festive season is always a challenging time for health and care services, and the incredible teams at NHS 24 are rising to meet this challenge head-on. I want to personally thank all staff for their hard work and dedication, especially at this time of year. “I also encourage the public to use resources like NHS inform’s online tools to ensure that our services can focus on those who need urgent care. The Scottish Government has committed an additional £25 million to winter resilience across NHS Scotland, helping to support these critical efforts.” Ahead of the Christmas and New Year period, NHS 24 has been working proactively to bolster resilience and alleviate pressure on both the 111 service and other primary care resources. NHS 24 has implemented a range of initiatives to prepare for the festive period, including: 🔹Launching a winter campaign focused on digital information and encouraging people to prepare ahead of service closures. 🔹Recruiting a record number of call handlers and additional clinical supervisors to strengthen capacity. 🔹Prioritising frontline services, including suspending non-essential activities within call centres and managing staff annual leave to maximise availability.
