There is a constellation named Lynx – not because it looks like a lynx, but because you need the keen eyes of a lynx to spot it!   It forms a crooked line, close to the front of Ursa Major (which includes the much more easily seen Big Dipper/Plough).   Can you spot the lynx in the night sky?

  • 🌿✨ Jean Cartman Wilder Communities Award: Winners Announcement! 🌱✨ We are thrilled to announce the winners of the Jean Cartman Wilder Communities Award! These amazing organizations are making positive impact in our communities by helping foster connections with the natural world for the benefit of people and wildlife. 👏Congratulations to our winners and watch this space to see what they get up to next!🎉 🏆 WINNER 🏆 Pottery Bank Community Allotment and Garden - For their outstanding efforts in creating welcoming opportunities for people to connect with nature and each other. Pottery Bank Community Allotment and Garden provides regular activities for local people, including mindful gardening sessions, wood working sessions, cooking lessons and nature walks. These activities bring together a wide range of people to enjoy nature, strengthen community bonds and reduce social isolation. The money from this award will help transform multiple areas of the garden space, so people can create, learn about and enjoy different habitats. This includes creating a wildflower meadow patch and turning an area that was previously covered in brambles and litter into a woodland haven. We love this motto from Nelli, Pottery Bank’s Community Allotment Engagement Worker: Plant Dreams – Pull Weeds – Grow Happy Life! 🌱 🥈 RUNNERS-UP 🥈 1. The Garden Project - For their caring approach to providing a nature-rich space for older, vulnerable and isolated residents in Walker. This beautiful space is open to the public and the money from this award will go towards developing wildlife habitats, creating more accessible opportunities, growing vegetables for cooking and sharing plants with local residents 🦔 2. Briardale Community Garden (Briardale House Youth & Community Projects Ltd) - For their fantastic work providing accessible opportunities for a wide range of community groups in Blyth to experience nature. The money from this award will provide accessibility equipment to expand their reach further🪴 Thank you so much to everybody who applied - we were so impressed by the amazing work happening across Northumberland to make our communities wilder spaces for all and we hope to hear from you again next time!🌍💚 #TeamWilder
