We have ✨ really big ✨ news. We won’t spoil it for you: Swipe to see what we’re up to. 😉 Okay, we’ll give you some hints: 1. 💙 Our fantastic team member, Gemma, is an important part of the big news 2. 🤯 At some point, cloning Gemma or offering her literal twin a job seemed like the best solution 3. 🙃 We decided against it, but looking back on the project, we think cloning Gemma might actually have been easier Any guesses what we’re up to? 👀 Here’s another hint: During the year and two months Gemma’s been with us, she’s delivered our Wavemaker Workshops to 9,797 people. That took her 🚂 194 trains, 🚌 12 buses and ☕️ 850 cups of coffee. Still, she couldn’t visit everyone. But that’s we want: Bringing the 🌊 Ocean to everyone, everywhere. Luckily for Gemma, we found a solution. ✅ We’re building an online learning platform to bring our UNESCO-endorsed Wavemaker programme online. Check it our here, and start learning so Gemma can stop living out of a suitcase 👉 https://lnkd.in/e-XbKABC #OceanGeneration #Ocean #OceanEducation #OneOcean #OceanDecade #OceanScience #Wavemakers #WorldOceanDay

We are all the Ocean Generation.
About us
We are empowering an inclusive global movement to tackle Ocean threats through Science and Storytelling. No fear-mongering, no big-data, no over-simplifications. We’re changing the narrative. ✅ We break down the biggest human-threats our Ocean faces, like plastic pollution and climate change; shift the perceptions and behaviours that create them; and are empowering the world to live more sustainably. WHAT WE DO: 🌊 We translate complex Ocean science into engaging content and practical actions. Using film and popular culture, we make learning about the environment interesting and relatable. 🏆 This Ocean Intelligence approach is endorsed by UNESCO and integrated into our youth engagement programmes. 🙌 Our youth programmes, for 3 – 25-year-olds, introduce young people to the importance of the Ocean, educate them about the ways we impact it and the solutions it holds, and empower them with tools they can use to take action. If you're alive today, you're part of the generation - the Ocean Generation - who can turn the tide and restore the health of our blue planet. 💙

💙 We’re a charity. Your donations keep us going. 🙌 Thanks to 42 donors of the AVIVA Community Fund, we raised £6,907 during this campaign. From the bottom of our hearts (or should I say, from the bottom of the 🌊 Ocean) we’re so grateful. This will enable us to deliver ✅ three Ocean Academy workshops to 100 children, and 🤝 three Wavemaker workshops to 50 young adults. This means 450 young people will know that the Ocean keeps us all alive - all thanks to our wonderful supporters. 💙 So once again, a BIG thank you! Would you also like to donate or support us? Global temperatures crossed the 1.5°C mark for the first time in 2024 🥵 Here’s what it actually means 👇 2024 was the hottest year on record: 📈The monthly global average temperature exceeded 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels for 11 months of the year. It’s a huge milestone because the Paris Agreement aims to limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. But it doesn’t mean we’ve breached the Paris Agreement and we’re cooked. Swipe 👉 to see why. Plus 🙌 we’re listing 3 practical actions everyone can take, because one thing’s certain: We need to rapidly reduce our greenhouse gas emissions. 📷 Cover image by Zhang Ahuei (zhang_ahuei on Instagram) #MarineScience #Ocean #Sea #MarineConservation #EnvironmentalEducation #Environment #OceanConservation #ScienceCommunicator #Education #Learning #2024 #ParisAgreement #HeatRecord

Polar animals 🤝ice. So, it’s easy to see: Climate change impacts many polar species. But for some 👀 animals, the changes create more favourable conditions. In our new article, we’re taking a look at how 🐻❄️ polar bears, orcas and narwhals (AKA the unicorns of the sea) have adapted to these changing conditions. Plus: We’re explaining how we can be part of climate solutions. 🙌 Read more on our Science Hub: https://lnkd.in/eUWpCFcg #MarineScience #Ocean #Sea #MarineConservation #EnvironmentalEducation #Environment #SDGs #OceanConservation #ScienceCommunicator #Education #Learning #MarineLife #PolarRegions
