We’re thrilled to share the first chapter of a special three-part series from our founder and CEO, Shilpika (Shilps) Gautam, as she reflects on her Guinness World Records-breaking 3,000 km journey down the Ganges River. 🌅 In 'Paddling Through a Climate Crisis', Shilps shares her personal experiences seeing how local communities are disproportionately affected by climate change. This expedition planted the seeds that would become Opna , and sparked our mission to drive catalytic impact by channeling finance to carbon projects in the global South. 🌏 Stay tuned for the next instalment next week! #ClimateAction #Sustainability #Opna #Leadership
🌊 Presenting: Reflections from the river… I’m excited to introduce a new series ‘Reflections from the River’, where I’ll be sharing insights from my journey paddling the Ganges River—an adventure that spanned 3,000 km from 4500 metre high in the Indian Himalayas, all the way down to the Ganges Delta(the largest river delta in the world- an incredible biodiversity hotspot), where the Ganges meets the Ocean What began as an adventure and physical challenge soon revealed itself as something much deeper—an intimate encounter with the real, human impacts of a changing climate. Follow my journey through written word as I reflect on my time on the river: paddling through a climate crisis, meeting the female faces of resilience, and how we can all drive positive change through catalytic impact. Here we go…!

Last week, Shilpika (Shilps) Gautam had the pleasure of moderating an excellent panel at #CDRCopenhagen alongside Jakob Bejbro Andersen (MASH Makes), Tom Mills (Carbon Removal India Alliance (CRIA)), and Marian Krueger(remove). The conversation dove deep into the challenges and opportunities involved in scaling carbon removal (CDR) in emerging markets, with a particular focus on India. 🇮🇳 The biggest takeaway message? India is not just a space for NGOs and bilateral aid—there’s real business potential here, especially as its NDCs evolve to include biodiversity goals. 🦚 🐯 ➡️ Looking ahead to the rest of September, we have lots of events coming up and we'd love to meet as many of you as possible! Here's where we'll be next: 📣 Next up: Matthew Caudle and Lachezar Kamenov will be attending #CarbonUnboundEurope2024 in London this Thursday, with Matt concluding the summit with a roundup of the key takeaways at 16:00. 🗽 Plus, the Opna team (Shilpika (Shilps) Gautam, Rachael O'Brien and Matthew Caudle) are gearing up for a busy Climate Week NYC later this month—stay tuned for more updates and reach out if you'll be there! 🌍 ✨ Corby Smelt Rupert Walker Unbound Summits
