More affordable homes in Aberdeen 🏡 PfP are delighted to announce the acquisition of land from The Grandhome Trust that will house 84 new affordable homes in the first phase of the Grandhome Community. Supported by the Scottish Government’s Affordable Housing Supply Programme, these homes will offer a mix of one to four bedrooms. But beyond homes, we aim to create a thriving sustainable Community where People can live, grow, and work. Colin Jack, Regional Managing Director of PfP Developments Scotland, comments: “The Scottish Government have declared a housing emergency and PfP is committed to helping them address the chronic shortage of homes being built. As you can see, we’re thrilled to share the opening of our newly refurbished and collaborative space in Edinburgh. Director of PfP Scotland, Kelly Brown, was joined by a number of Colleagues to officially cut the ribbon! ✂️ Colleagues based in the southeast area will now be able to work together in this state-of-the-art building, alongside Hays Community Hub. The layout of the new space allows the floor space to be cleverly divided, enabling new possibilities for an expanded programme of Places Impact activities, including the continuation of their youth clubs, food pantry, cooking lessons, and mental health support groups, for the 1,600 Community Hub users (YTD). 💙 The space is modern, comfortable, and collaborative, and will greatly enhance our ability to better serve our Community - a key milestone in our commitment to creating the right workplaces in the right places. Empowering our Community through digital skills 💻✨ It was fantastic to have AbilityNet at our Hays Community Hub in Edinburgh over the last few weeks, delivering digital sessions for our Customers over 65 to build confidence, stay connected, and gain new skills. With tablets generously donated by Bell group participants learned how to navigate the online world by shopping safely, using emails, and spotting potential scams. We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Kelly Brown as the new Director of PfP Scotland 🏡✨ As former Scotland Rugby captain, Kelly joined Places for People as a Regional Director in 2023. As he steps into a new leadership position, Kelly will oversee our critical role in Scotland's housing landscape. With over 9,000 homes currently under management and 2,500 new homes set to be delivered in the next five years, it's vital we create environments beyond homes where individuals and families can thrive across Scotland. Kelly Brown recognises this: “Homelessness is at a record high in Scotland with 17,424 households being either homeless or at risk. In Scotland alone, there are 253,000 people waiting for a social home, with 90,000 of those being children. 🏡 Building brighter futures at PfP Scotland. At PfP, we believe in more than housing. We believe in thriving Communities where young people feel safe, supported, and empowered. One initiative that truly embodies this is Friday Night Lights, a programme making a real difference for young People in Niddrie and Craigmillar. On Friday evenings, over 50 people aged nine and over, come together to play football, rugby, and other sports - this initiative is so much more than just a game: ✅ A safe space to connect and grow. ✅ Mentorship to guide positive choices. ✅ A hot meal from the beloved Scran Van. ✅ Collaboration with local partners like Police Scotland and Edinburgh Leisure. With funding from our Community Investment Fund, a further grant pending, and the hard work of our Community Safety Area Manager of Scotland, Cheryl Neill, we’re ensuring that young people have somewhere to belong. 🏠 We’re excited to share that PfP, in partnership with Murray Estates, has secured land to deliver over 1,300 much-needed new homes on the outskirts of Edinburgh. In response to the city’s growing demand for quality, mixed-tenure housing and the declared housing emergency in Edinburgh, the site will create a thriving, inclusive Community with a mix of homes, including over 25% affordable housing. Green spaces, a new primary school, and local job opportunities, will support families, whilst improved transport links will keep People connected to the city. Our team’s extensive housebuilding experience allows us to create Communities that last for generations."
