  • We’ve been lucky enough to have our very own Chorlton resident Laurie Sangwin leading on this scheme. There’s nothing like good local knowledge and pride in the local community to help deliver a great landscape scheme.

Huge news for our site in Chorlton, as we prepare to submit a planning application to transform the former Chorlton Cross Shopping Centre into a new beating heart for the community. 🏘️ Having consulted with the public in 2023, it's great to see the team ready to submit our vision to Manchester City Council, having taken on lots of the feedback shared by locals. In partnership with the Greater Manchester Pension Fund, we've carefully created a scheme that reflects the distinct character of Chorlton but also responds to local housing needs. A big thanks to CBRE, Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios (FCBStudios) and Randall Thorp for helping pull everything together. 👋 https://lnkd.in/e-JBrrv3 #chorlton #consultation #regeneration

  • We would like to welcome Ieman to Randall Thorp! Ieman joined the team after graduating from Leeds Beckett University with a BA in Landscape Architecture and Design in 2024. She is particularly drawn to the challenge of balancing environmental stewardship with innovative design, and she is eager to contribute to creating spaces that harmonise with nature while serving the needs of the community. Ieman is looking forward to learning new technical skills and gaining a better understanding of the landscape industry.

  • As we say goodbye to Hannah, she shares a few thoughts about her time at Randall Thorp: 'In July 2023, I began my Year in Practice at Randall Thorp as part of the Integrated Masters in Landscape Architecture at the University of Sheffield. My interest in Randall Thorp grew after meeting Danielle and Lara at the university’s Landscape Architecture Employers Fair. Their friendly approach and enthusiasm for the practice assured me this was the right place for my year out. During my time here, I’ve gained confidence, creativity, and determination. I’ve worked on a range of projects, from strategic planning to detailed design, expanding my software skills in AutoCAD, Keyscape, InDesign, and Photoshop, and deepening my understanding of the landscape architecture profession. The experience has pushed me out of my comfort zone, challenging me with new tasks and responsibilities that will undoubtedly influence my final year of study and future career. Working on meaningful projects has been stimulating, allowing me to contribute to designs that enhance places for people to live, work, and play while valuing the natural world. I’ve enjoyed taking ownership of smaller projects, from creating visuals, material palettes, planting schedules and developing designs. I’ve also gained exposure to tender packages, costings, and specifications, familiarising me with the different RIBA stages and broadening my professional knowledge, which will further support me on my pathway to chartership. Collaborating with a supportive and creative team has helped me learn more about the impact our work, as landscape architects, has on people, place and the environment. I have enjoyed being introduced to the full range of landscape elements that underpin successful schemes, from mixed use developments in London, to large scale residential settlements. It’s been inspiring to see how Randall Thorp’s projects, such as those in Cambourne, have improved the quality of life over time. Randall Thorp’s commitment to supporting their team and the wider landscape architecture community has been invaluable. I’ve received guidance from colleagues at all levels, both partners and recent graduates, which has boosted my confidence and motivation. I’ve also had the opportunity to encourage other students considering a career in landscape architecture. Overall, I’m grateful for the skills, knowledge, and relationships I’ve gained during my time at Randall Thorp, which I hope to continue to develop moving forward as I set out to complete my final year at university and venture into the professional world of landscape architecture.' - Hannah Gibb Wishing you the best on your final year at university and we hope to see you again soon

Last week we held our annual RT Summer Social in the sunny Peak District: a walk around Kinder Reservoir followed by a BBQ at Lindsay’s house. It was great to get together to enjoy a scenic stroll, appreciate the beautiful landscape we have on our doorstep and contribute to the delicious spread of food! We can't wait till next year! #landscapearchitecture #urbandesign #masterplanning #manchester #peakdistrict
