About us

We are landscape architects, shaping places that enrich lives. Our work spans masterplans, later living, commercial, education, housing, community regeneration, private gardens, public realm, culture, and health. From large-scale projects to intimate spaces, we bring the same level of care and creativity. We are a team of individuals united by a shared purpose - to make a difference. As open-minded collaborators, we harness our diverse strengths to deliver landscapes that are meaningful, functional, and enduring. Working with local authorities, contractors, developers, private clients, and some of the world’s leading architects, we dig deep to understand their ambitions and translate them into landscapes that attract support, secure investment, and get built. We don’t impose a signature style. Every project is shaped by the client, the place, and its people. That’s why clients return to us - they trust our ability to listen, interpret, and bring their vision to life. Established in 1980, Camlins is now 100% employee-owned, marking a new chapter in our journey as one of the UK’s leading landscape design practices.

  • A fantastic CPD trip to Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew to catch the end of the Rare and Extinct exhibition. The exhibition explores a range of previously unseen specimens now no longer found in the wild, which have been cultivated by Kew's team of expert horticulturalists. A hugely fascinating exhibition but Kew generally is like Disneyland for landscape architects with every turn revealing a memorable plant or landscape. From the formal planting of the King's House to the myriad ecosystems of the Princess of Wales Conservatory and everything in between, every trip to Kew is a celebration of the wonderful natural world we are all lucky enough to be a part of. • Fantastic to see the transformational impact of the Riverside Sunderland project explored in this feature by The Developer and Festival of Place Camlins helped develop the masterplan for this 33ha riverside site, which will see the creation of four new mixed-use neighbourhoods while building new connections between the city centre and the Stadium of Light on the northern banks of the River Wear. A riverside park is the green heart of the masterplan, spanning both sides of the river with 13-acres of waterfront, featuring landscaped spaces, SUDS ponds, social areas as well as walking routes and areas for community events and interaction. Central to the regeneration project has been the construction of a new 250m footbridge across the Wear, which also completes the Keel Line, a granite strip stretching from Keel Square in the city centre across the bridge, showcasing the names of the 8,100 ships built on the Wear and which is the length of the largest ship ever build in the city.    Proctor & Matthews Architects FaulknerBrowns igloo Regeneration Sunderland City Council #landscape #regeneration #sunderland https://lnkd.in/eqnYCXV6

  • Great to see the recently completed OSMO London project featured in the latest edition of Pro Landscaper. OSMO is an exciting new green contemporary office development designed by EPR Architects with a focus on wellness, sustainability and the benefits of biophilia. At ground level, the landscape strategy extends the building into the Nine Elms Linear Park running through the spine of the rapidly evolving regeneration zone, while balcony planting creates the appearance of a dynamic and living facade. On the top floor is a lush and biodiverse terrace, providing an informal green oasis for users with spectacular views across Battersea Power Station and beyond. • A hive of activity down at Nine Elms as work continues to complete the Nine Elms Linear Park, the unifying green infrastructure that extends through the district. When completed, the park will create a continuous green corridor from Battersea Power Station to Vauxhall Cross, opening out into a variety of spaces and extending into various different developments, helping make Nine Elms one of the greenest and most liveable districts in London. #landscape #design #london

  • A really wonderful review of Highgate Newtown Community Centre in this weekend's Observer by Rowan Moore. Camlins worked alongside RCKa on a project that evolved over a decade, resulting in a new community facility that is completely focused on responding to the needs of the people who will use it every day. This thoughtful development provides a range of valuable local facilities centred around a multi-functional courtyard and new public thoroughfare, all of which has been designed to create a place that is inviting, safe, family friendly and relevant to the hugely diverse user community. Central to this project's success was a rigorous and authentic process of consultation and engagement, which involved more than 170 stakeholder groups and has ultimately delivered a place of real importance and pride for local people. Always great to be back at Nottingham Trent University working with the students on the Architectural Technology course. Our latest collaboration saw senior landscape architect Coco Chan take a Photoshop post-production session with the final year students. Camlins has a long-standing association with the university and as a practice, we have seen huge value in recruiting designers from across the architectural spectrum - our own MD initially trained as an architectural technologist - and last year we helped develop and deliver the first landscape module on the course. #landscapearchitecture #university #training #development #technology

  • Incredibly exciting to see the progress of this hugely important project, on which Camlins has worked alongside White Arkitekter to design what will be the UK's greenest hospital. The project has been designed with an inter-related focus on whole life carbon impact and improving health outcomes through a fabric-first approach, natural materials and a landscape approach rooted in climate adaption, biodiversity and patient and community benefit. At the heart of the landscape strategy has been a commitment to 'keep it wild' and when completed, the maximum amount of existing landscape will have been retained with a range of sensitive interventions around the hospital including traditional orchard meadows, wetland habitats, wildflower meadows and a kitchen garden. Construction well underway at Velindre Cancer Centre 🚧 It is great to see that the construction of the new Velindre Cancer Centre is progressing well and we are on the way to delivering one of the most sustainable hospitals in the UK. Led by the ACORN consortium, with Kajima, SACYR, abrdn and the Development Bank of Wales, this state-of-the-art facility is designed to transform cancer care in South East Wales. With sustainability at its core, the hospital targets BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and is set to be all-electric, reducing carbon emissions and optimising energy efficiency. On-site progress: 🏗️ Four tower cranes in operation, formation of substructure, slabs, formwork and pouring of suspended slabs 🧱Structure progressing from basement (staff car parking) to lower ground floor (patient parking and clinical areas) 👷♂️ It’s a busy site, average 250 employees per day 👨👩👦👦Lots of community benefits including job creation, schools and community engagement, and carbon literacy training We look forward to watching this landmark project develop over the coming months as we work towards opening in April 2027. Do have a look at our project website: www.newvelindre.info #SocialInfrastructure #ConstructionUpdate #VelindreCancerCentre
