  • We are incredibly proud of our Water Environment Director Simon Mirams' role in this successful planning inquiry, resulting in the approval of 190 homes in Yatton, working alongside Charlie Banner (Lord Banner KC) and Kathryn Ventham. This could possibly be one of the most significant decisions of the year. The flood risk sequential test was failed, but the Inspector accepted that on planning balance the appeal could be allowed, and critically that the site met the requirements to be safe from flood risk through application of the exception test i.e. no risk to residential property or access. If anyone would like a copy of Simon's Proof of Evidence or would like to speak with him, please feel free to reach out to Simon at simon.mirams@rappor.co.uk. Great all round team effort. www.rappor.co.uk

Happy Friday! 🎉 Great progress is being made both inside and out at the Blackbridge CCBS as we approach completion in mid-April. Externally, most of the works are now complete, with spring planting set to begin soon. The new 3G pitches have been installed and will provide a high-quality playing surface for the community. Internally, the site is prepared for the final touches, with wall graphics and other FF&E items due to be installed shortly. FWP is providing Architectural Design, Interior Design, Project Management, Quantity Surveying, CDM coordination, Mechanical & Electrical Engineering, and Structural Engineering on the project, working alongside contractor E G Carter & Co Ltd. It’s exciting to see everything coming together, and we look forward to delivering this fantastic facility in the coming weeks. • March 8th marks International Women’s Day. The World Economic Forum data shows that at the current rate of progress, it will take until 2158 to reach full gender parity. This year’s theme of #AccelerateAction focuses on speeding up the rate of progress worldwide.   Rappor endeavours to do all that we can to promote gender parity in the workplace through a variety of means, including:   ● Ensuring women are represented across management, senior leadership and overall in decision-making across the business ● Supporting women into engineering roles so that our representative teams can design infrastructure that meets the needs of women and girls ● Supporting women into critical business services roles, such as finance and operations ● Providing flexible working for employees of all genders to promote lessening the imbalance of women undertaking parenting and caring responsibilities ● Offering eight weeks fully paid maternity leave ● Providing menopause awareness sessions to staff of all genders ● Providing free sanitary supplies to all staff because period products are a necessity, not a luxury ● Offering free golf lessons to our female employees to address the gender imbalance at corporate golf days (resulting in the discovery of a serious love for golf by our Associate Director Jamie Mattock FIHE RegDME (IHE)! #IWD2025

A real pleasure to have attended the Rural Economy Research Group ‘s Spring Reception at the UK House of Lords to have some insightful discussions around the current challenges facing the water industry as a whole. A wide range of topics were discussed but great to see all discussions were around cohesive solutions and moving forward to tackle these. A big thank you for extending the invite!

  • Work experience is a fantastic way for Rappor to deliver learning opportunities for young people considering careers in our sector. Robin Dafforn is one of those young people, and Mabel Still and Rob Hardyman gave him that opportunity recently in our Bristol office. We're looking forward to seeing where he goes from here! #WorkExperience #TransportPlanning #EarlyCareers

🌟 A Week in the Life of a Transport Planning Engineer at Rappor 🌟 🎉 This week, I got hands-on experience at Rappor, diving into transport planning and tackling real-world tasks. 🛣️ I explored how transport planning fits into the wider planning system, from Local Planning Authorities to national policies and design standards. I also learned the importance of strong project management and teamwork. 📈 I got to gather site data - crucial for understanding project context. I reviewed layouts, ensuring they met transport standards and promoted sustainable travel. I also sharpened my CAD skills, producing clear and effective drawings. 🚗 I wrote a Local Highway Safety Chapter, analysing Personal Injury Collision (PIC) data to assess development impacts. 🖌️ I got hands-on with Adobe Illustrator for client visuals and AutoCAD to design road access and markings. 🌳Transport planning isn’t just about roads—it’s about creating safer, more accessible, and sustainable spaces for everyone. 🚀 Huge thanks to Rappor for a brilliant, insightful week! #TransportPlanning #Engineering #UrbanDesign #Sustainability #LifeAtRappor

It's National Apprenticeship Week and a chance to celebrate those at Rappor who are working towards qualifications in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning and Human Resources through the completion of apprenticeships. Training apprentices is one way we are building our business for years to come. We see the investment in our people being repaid many times over and the structured programmes allow the best young talent to develop quickly into consultants and professionals. Apprenticeships will always be part of our future plans. As of today, the EA have made the new NaFRA ‘Risk of flooding from rivers and sea’ and ‘Risk of flooding from surface water’ data available on Check your long term flood risk mapping for England. The current programme of updates will see the Flood Map for Planning being updated at the end of March. This update will, for the first time, include surface water mapping and allowances for climate change. A sense of what is to come with the highly anticipated PPG update? The general trend of mapping is an increase in properties at risk so if there are any questions feel free to contact me or any member of the Rappor Water Environment Team. https://lnkd.in/eyqKFunX
