About us
Red Rock Renewables is an investor, owner, operator and developer of renewable energy projects. Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, our growing team are passionate about generating clean energy and supporting the UK and Europe’s net zero ambitions. Our current portfolio includes five part or fully owned wind farm projects, each at different lifecycle stages. Our operational wind farms – Afton (100% equity), Beatrice (25%) and Överturingen (50%) – have an installed capacity of 320 MW (RRPL proportion), while our development projects – Benbrack onshore wind farm in the South West of Scotland (100%) and Inch Cape offshore wind farm off the East Coast (50%) – will deliver an additional 570 MW. While our expertise lies in the wind sector and we are continuing to grow our UK wind portfolio, we are actively pursuing partnership, acquisition and development opportunities to expand into the wider European market and other sustainable energy technologies. Our Edinburgh headquarters puts us at the heart of the UK industry, and our team’s expertise and experience working on some of the world’s largest energy infrastructure projects allows us a unique position to consider a variety of different opportunities and we welcome candidates to join us on this journey. This morning, some of our team visited The Edinburgh Remakery to see firsthand how they’re tackling e-waste and digital poverty. We’re proud to have donated £5,000 and over 50 pieces of old tech to support their vital work! ♻️ Our retired devices will be refurbished and gifted those in need—helping to extend their life cycle and create new opportunities. Another great step towards a more sustainable future! 🌱 #CircularEconomy #Sustainability #CorporateResponsibility

A very busy start to the new year for Inch Cape! Congratulations to the Project and its partners for achieving this truly monumental feat and another major milestone for the wind farm!
Super grid transformers arrive! Inch Cape’s two 610MVA super grid transformers arrived at the Forth Ports Limited Port of Leith last week on the vessel HS Patience. The first was transported to the Cockenzie substation site in the early hours of Monday morning by Allelys 82-metre long wheel-base vehicle. The complex moving process was ably managed by Siemens Energy with support from East Lothian Council on the planning and traffic management and Police Scotland who led the convoy. The second transformer will undertake the same journey this coming weekend. #abnormalload #onshoreconstruction #offshorewind ESB I Red Rock Renewables Leith Port shots by Peter Devlin and night time shots by Ithica

As we reflect on a successful 2024, one key highlight was hosting a site visit for a group of pupils from nearby Robert Burns Academy at our Afton wind farm. Thank you to our HSE and Asset Management teams, as well as our colleagues at Siemens Gamesa and RES, for helping to make this a fun and insightful day out. #PeopleMakeRenewables #NetZeroFuture #STEM

Red Rock is delighted to support Cash for Kids Edinburgh, the Lothians, Fife & Falkirk #MissionChristmas again this year. The company has donated £20,000 to the cause, helping to buy enough Christmas presents for around 800 local children who may otherwise go without. Some of the Edinburgh team were also more than happy to spend the day volunteering at Mission Headquarters. This year, a record 23,368 local children have been applied for with just 2 days to go to ensure that every one of these applications is fulfilled. Red Rock Renewables CEO, Xiaomeng Chen, said: “Christmas should be a joyful time for children, and it saddens us to think of those who may not have presents to open or something to look forward to. Our Edinburgh team is proud to support Mission Christmas again this year and help the dedicated Cash for Kids team spread joy this festive season.” There is still time to donate!
