Courtney Turner, Senior Business Manager on our Work Routes service, alongside two of her team from our Barnsley office, Sarah Chester Assoc. CIPD and Samuel Jones, opted to volunteer with the Circles team at Age UK Doncaster. Circles aims to reduce loneliness and social isolation amongst the over-50 community in Doncaster. To help people to feel more connected to their community, they host local groups for socialising and a range of activities that encourage independence, such as digital sessions to help people to use technology with confidence. Our Reed in Partnership volunteers assisted at the Doncaster festive event, mingling with guests and supporting with the celebrations which included a Christmas quiz, bingo, and a buffet. Alongside the fun they were busy behind the scenes helping to set up then pack down, wash up, and support the hospitality team after the event. Courtney shared, “We chose to work with the Circles team in Doncaster as we wanted to support people within the local community who are alone at this time of year. “Having Community Connect days at Reed in Partnership really allows us to have a direct impact on the communities in which we work. We all need support and friendship regardless of our circumstances.” #community #volunteering #socialimpact

  • Our Employability Director Nick Morgan gives his take on today's newly released labour market statistics: "The latest labour market statistics from ONS suggest a difficult end to last year, with vacancies down again, unemployment up and estimates of payrolled employees falling by 32,000 between October and November 2024. "January always provides the opportunity for a fresh start, however. There are 812,000 vacancies to fill – and our employment advisers on the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Restart Scheme are working hard to help individuals access these roles, supporting them with health, training, money management, transport and more." Mark’s story illustrates how challenging it can be to get back into work after a long period of unemployment and the change in mindset that this demands. Read how the Restart Scheme helped Mark to find a care role he enjoys and the work it took him to achieve this: https://ow.ly/8aFC50UK4Fn

"Hospitals using killer blood…” Join me in the first episode of a special series of shorts of 'all about business'. Today I venture into a gripping investigation from the 1980s with renowned journalist Sue Douglas. In this episode, Sue recounts her time as a young correspondent uncovering a harrowing story about potentially contaminated blood supplies imported into Britain. This investigation not only highlighted a risk for public health but also faced significant government hesitation and media backlash. This episode is a powerful reminder of the consequences of systemic failures as well as the relentless pursuit of truth and justice. The impact of Sue’s groundbreaking report led to a public inquiry... 40 years later!! Don't miss out on Sue's story... #lovemondays #lifeatreed #improvinglivesthroughwork #PhilCo #Since1960 #allaboutbusiness #Podcast #InvestigativeJournalism #PublicHealth #Justice

  • We offer everyone working at Reed in Partnership the chance to positively impact their local area through our volunteering initiative, Community Connect, which gives individuals three days each year to spend with a charity of their choice. Through Community Connect, two members of our Restart Scheme team in Gateshead, Senior Partnership Manager Anna Warner and Operations Manager Sharon Campbell-Lawton, lent their support at their local Age UK Christmas party. Age UK supports older people across the UK to live healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives through their network of local centres, providing those in need with a variety of care including bereavement support, benefits advice, dementia awareness training, and more. During the party, Anna and Sharon assisted the attendees into the venue, sold bingo cards and raffle tickets, and handed out quizzes. They mingled and chatted with guests to ensure they felt welcome, supported, and enjoyed the event. Anna told us, “It was a pleasure and an honour to support such a great charity doing so much for our older community.” Sharon added, “As an office we wanted to help with any local community events, and overall, myself and the team at the Gateshead office have supported two charities with Christmas events through Community Connect.” #community #volunteering #socialimpact
