Continuing our long-standing relationship with Waitrose & Partners we have been working this summer in St Ives in Cambridgeshire, on a seven-week refurbishment project, refreshing and updating this retail store. Here is official opening day with the store manager where customers were queuing at 8am ready to shop! Works included replacing chillers and cases, updating the deli, meat and fish counters and installing a new sushi bar to the main store. Back of house we refreshed cold store rooms as well reconfigured storage space and installed new plant on the roof. Well done to all the team for this successful completion of this project. As part of our continued commitment to educating the next generation, R G Carter have been supporting Abigail, a T Level student from West Suffolk College on the Design, Surveying and Planning course. With the support of the site team at the Thurston Extra Care Scheme and the Design and Pre-Construction team in the Ipswich office, Abigail has already completed over a third of the 315 hours she is required to complete on the course. The team are focussing on the design and construction process needed to get a project from tender stage to site, bringing classroom theory to life! After 356 hours on site with our team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in King’s Lynn, Cameron Bunning has completed his work placement as part of his T Level course at West Suffolk College. Having started on the site of last November, he has seen this project from foundations, right through to completion, providing him with invaluable hands-on experience. Cameron has been an absolute pleasure to have on site and an excellent addition to the team, impressing everyone with his willingness to learn, get stuck in and engage with everything on site. We would like to thank him for all his help and wish him well in what will clearly be a fantastic future career in the industry! At Rattlesden Church of England Primary Academy School near Bury St Edmunds, our R G Carter team have been working on a six-week refurbishment project for Thedwastre Education Trust over the school holidays with the aim to complete before the children return. In the oldest part of this Victorian school, built in 1872, our team of carpenters are replacing the oak casement and sash windows for new ones like-for-like. They are also replacing the external wooden doors, including the unique main front arch way entrance. This picturesque village in Suffolk has been a conservation area since 1975, ensuring any changes to buildings are in keeping with the area’s character. Lovely to see the school refurbished to its former glory. View more on R G Carter's education expertise and case studies: https://lnkd.in/eaH8z8XW

At the picturesque coastal location of Thornham in North Norfolk, work is well under way on the next Phase at St George’s Court to build two further homes for our client Bullen Developments. Having completed five homes at the same location at the end of 2022, we are now delivering these beautiful private homes with the support of the design services of Carter Design Group, in the same traditional style. Work started in April, with brick and flint work now up to first floor height and floor trusses being installed very soon. By Christmas, the team hope to be watertight.

One of our employees, Carl Offer, has bravely taken on the One Million steps challenge for Diabetes UK, equivalent of walking from Land’s End to John O’Groats! As a diabetic himself, this challenge is not just a personal test of endurance and commitment, it’s a chance to contribute to a cause that directly impacts his own life and the lives of millions of others.    By participating, Carl hopes to inspire people in the diabetic community to stay active and healthy, and to highlight the significance of regular physical activity in managing diabetes. This challenge is his way of giving back and making a difference.   Since the start of July, Carl has already covered over 400,000 steps with his family, including his young daughter who likes to join in!   We wish Carl luck in his challenge and as always are very proud of our R G Carter employees who give up their time to help those in need.
