About us

As the independent, specialist grid consultancy, Roadnight Taylor is the leading team dedicated to achieving timely grid connections to the GB electricity networks, at least cost and risk: connectology®. The decarbonisation and growth of our economy – by deploying clean energy technologies and enabling commercial and industrial development – depends entirely on the delivery of smart and affordable network infrastructure, where and when it is needed. This is where Roadnight Taylor focuses its significant influence. In this arena, the correlation between expertise employed and outcomes achieved is direct. As such, day-in-day-out, our team of Connectologists® tangibly and demonstrably helps major market participants – as well as public sector bodies, and institutional and private landowners – to accelerate the UK’s transition away from fossil fuels and towards a higher-growth and sustainable economy. Our Connectologists® achievements are measured by our clients’ successes, which are some five times that of the connections market as a whole. They are, unarguably, best-in-class. Our engineers and consultants bring together over seventy years of stellar network experience, wielded with the emotional intelligence and soft skills necessary to bring the very best out of our clients and our network operator colleagues. Our operations, finance and business development teams provide them with a robust, safe, efficient, happy and profitable platform from which to consistently deliver extraordinary results for our clients. Our commercial independence from any Network Operator gives us freedom to escalate to the regulator, on behalf of our clients, wherever appropriate. Our independence from any developer or investor allows us to manage conflicts professionally and ethically as and when they arise – and gives our clients confidence that whenever we are representing them, we will have their interests 100% at heart.

  • What a fantastic two days at our Long Barn office in Burford having the team all together! 🎉 The two days have been full of collaboration, team building, podcast recording and mid-year reviews, followed by a well-deserved team curry last night! Although Pete Aston, Jenny Goward, and Polly Stevenson couldn’t join us for our team photo, we made sure to capture the moment outside our brand-new recording studio, the Cart Shed. We can’t wait for them to be back in the office next week! #TeamDay #Team #Teamwork

  • In our latest webinar, Connectologists® Kyle Murchie, Pete Aston and Catherine Cleary outline some of the key changes proposed in Connections Reform. One of these key changes, highlighted by Catherine Cleary, is the new system of Self-Certification. She explains how the information gathering window and the assessment window have now been combined, and how developers will now self-certify that they have made the Gate 2 Criteria. She highlights how this will require trust, balanced with ramifications for those that abuse it. The consultation period closed yesterday (Tuesday 6th August, 5pm). 💬Join the conversation and let us know whether you completed the consultation and what you think of the changes in the current proposals. 💡To learn more about some of the questions we have identified regarding Connections Reform, sign-up now using the link below to receive a recording of our recent webinar! https://lnkd.in/ddJKP4Bx #connectology #connectionsreform #webinar #connections #sustainability #energy #renewableenergy #connections

  • We understand that the Connections Reform process has raised a lot of questions, and in our latest Webinar, the Connectologists® Kyle Murchie, Catherine Cleary and Pete Aston have tried to unpack some of the key queries people may have. One of these questions surrounded the proposed Gate 2 Criteria, and Catherine Cleary sought to highlight some of the new strategies that might be employed for those with multiple technologies, and what achieving a Gate 2 position for a subset of your project might look like. ❗ The consultation period is currently open and closes TONIGHT (Tuesday 6th August, 5pm).❗ We encourage everyone to complete the consultation and share your opinions, the more your issues are raised, the more effective the period will be. 💬Join the conversation and let us know what you think of this change in the current proposals! 💡To learn more about some of the questions we have identified regarding Connections Reform, sign-up now using the link below to receive a recording of our recent webinar! https://lnkd.in/ddJKP4Bx #connectionsreform #connectology #webinar #energy #renewableenergy #connections

  • Throughout the Connections Reform process, there have been numerous challenges, issues and unintended consequences which have been made apparent to us and our Connectologists®. In our recent webinar about Connections Reform, the Connectologists® Kyle Murchie, Pete Aston and Catherine Cleary share just a handful of these concerns and discuss those which are most widely felt in more detail. One of the discussions revolved around the omission of Embedded Demand from Connection Reform, and Pete Aston encourages developers to raise it in their consultation response if they are affected. ❗️The consultation period is currently open and closes TOMORROW (Tuesday 6th August, 5pm). We encourage everyone to complete the consultation and share your opinions, the more your issues are raised, the more effective the period will be. 💬Let us know whether you've completed your consultation and what issues have become evident to you! 💡To learn more about some of the issues we have identified regarding Connections Reform, sign-up now using the link below to receive a recording of our recent webinar! https://lnkd.in/ddJKP4Bx #consultation #connectology #renewableenergy #webinar #renewables #energytransition #netzero #decarbonisation #connectionsreform

  • To support the @ESO’s CMP434 and CMP435 Connections Reform consultation (which closes on Tuesday 6th August 2024, 5pm), Kyle Murchie, one of the Connectologists®, has developed a draft version of the Queue Management Milestone Calculator. This allows you to compare between the milestones introduced this year under CMP376 and the proposed milestones. The Milestone Calculator is a tool which is designed to flag issues in particular circumstances, to allow individuals to complete their own assessment. It can assist you throughout your own consultation response, or simply develop your understanding on the impact on current or future projects. At the end of the assessment, with the issues identified by the calculator, individuals will be able to decide whether these are manageable to continue with or not. 💡To try this calculator yourself, use the link below to complete your own assessment!   https://lnkd.in/eRJGXKPq #consultation #connectionsreform #gridconnections #calculator #renewables #connectology
