At RSE, we’re committed to enhancing wastewater treatment efficiency whilst driving down energy consumption and carbon emissions. The installation of a new fine bubble diffuser system at Bo’ness Wastewater Treatment Works carried out by our O&M team demonstrates our commitment to an innovative and sustainable approach to asset management. This advanced aeration technology significantly improves the biological treatment process by delivering oxygen more efficiently compared to traditional methods, resulting in a superior treatment performance. The enhanced biological process ensures an even oxygen distribution that optimises microbial activity, and the reduced air requirements result in lower power consumption, resulting in cost and energy efficiencies that directly translate into a lower carbon emission output for the plant. Our O&M team continues to closely collaborate with our clients and supply chain partners to deliver exceptional asset management solutions and is dedicated to making wastewater treatment smarter, cleaner, and more sustainable for the future.

On Friday night our team was delighted to attend the annual WaterAid UK Scotland Ball, this year being the ABBA-themed Waterloo ball held in Glasgow! RSE was honoured to be a headline sponsor of the ball alongside GEORGE LESLIE with the event being well supported by Scottish Water and other key partners from throughout the water industry supply chain. Through the generosity of all those that attended, an incredible £236,774 was raised for WaterAid, an international not-for-profit organisation that is dedicated to supporting communities around the world by providing access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene. The ball was joined by Amaka Godfrey, WaterAid Executive Director of International Programmes and Emmanuella M. M. Head of Business Development Rwanda, who delivered an inspiring speech and provided a reminder that change starts with water as the foundation for good health, dignity, and a life full of opportunity. Thank you to all who contributed to such an amazing night and delivering an incredible event on behalf of WaterAid, which RSE is so proud to support.

💧🌍 World Water Day, held on 22nd March is an annual United Nations Observance focusing on the importance of freshwater. The theme for this year, "Glacier Preservation," emphasises how important glaciers are to the continuation of life and the global water cycle. Glaciers are melting at an alarming rate due to climate change, which increases the likelihood of natural disasters and creates unpredictable water flows. In addition to celebrating water, World Water Day brings attention to the 2.2 billion people who lack access to clean water. It is about acting to address the world's water crisis. Supporting the attainment of Sustainable Development Goal 6 Water and Sanitation for all by 2030 is a primary objective of World Water Day. As a leading provider of innovative water treatment solutions in the UK, we’re committed to ensuring clean, accessible water for all. Our products, which range from sustainable wastewater management to advanced filtration, safeguard human health and the environment. 💧 Small changes that have a big impact that you can do to save water: Fix Leaks: A dripping tap might seem small, but it can waste up to 2,000 litres of water a year. Check for leaks in your pipes, taps, and toilets, and get them fixed as soon as possible. Shorten Showers: Cutting just a few minutes off your shower time can save litres of water every day. Aim for 5-minute showers and consider installing a water-efficient showerhead. Use Full Loads: Whether you’re washing dishes or laundry, try to wait until you have a full load to run your dishwasher or washing machine. It uses less water per item this way! Think about how you can reduce your own water consumption this World Water Day and help to protect this precious natural resource.

Yesterday, our team showcased our sustainability-led water treatment solutions alongside Biomatrix Water at the British Water Creating a More Sustainable Water Sector Conference in Manchester. Gary Callachan and George Olley had a great day demonstrating how our innovative water treatment solutions are at the forefront of carbon reduction, improving biodiversity, and enhancing natural water quality. The conference was a great opportunity to bring together water industry leaders to network and discuss how sustainability can be embedded within the sector, alongside highlighting the scaling up of nature-based solutions during AMP8. RSE is proud to be a part of the movement within the UK water sector that continues to play a critical role in driving sustainability and addressing the challenges associated with minimising our carbon output whilst delivering a high quality and reliable water network.

This September, a dedicated team of 8 cyclists will take on the North Coast 500 challenge, riding approx. 100 miles per day over 5 days in support of Heather's Heroes. The cyclists will form a core Heather’s Heroes team and are embarking on this ambitious journey as they each have a personal connection with cancer affecting their families, with the immense challenge providing the opportunity to raise awareness and vital funds for local charities, through the work of Heather’s Heroes. The NC500 route will begin and end in Muir of Ord, spanning a total elevation gain higher than Mount Everest of 33,514 feet! - making it a true test of endurance and determination. On Saturday the 27th of September, the cyclists will be welcomed into the home-straight at our annual Heather’s Heroes Family Fun Day, hosted this year in the Black Isle Showground. Throughout the ride, the Heather’s Heroes cyclists will be joined each day by four corporate teams, providing much needed motivation and camaraderie as they navigate the demanding route. Huge thanks to the corporate teams who have signed up to the challenge so far, and we still have 12 corporate team slots left! If you are interested in joining our team as they take on their inspiring NC500 journey this summer, please get in touch.
