It’s awe-inspiring, it’s global, and it’s happening right now: the epic phenomenon of bird migration! 🌍😍 Each year, migratory birds travel thousands of miles, relying on protected stopover sites and healthy habitats to rest, refuel, and breed. From the UK’s coastal wetlands, essential feeding grounds for waders, to the savannahs of northern Ghana which provide a winter haven for songbirds, the RSPB is working with partners internationally to protect and restore vital habitats for migratory birds. This essential conservation work along the East Atlantic Flyway has been made possible thanks to the generous support of The Ecological Restoration Fund. Read on to explore where three species are on their journeys right now: https://brnw.ch/21wNHnl 👀 #WorldMigratoryBirdDay

Nature is in crisis. Together we can save it.
About us
Passionate about nature, dedicated to saving it. Since we started on our mission in 1889, the threats to nature have continued to grow, but we've grown to meet them too. We’re now the largest nature conservation charity in the UK (although our work stretches far beyond that), consistently delivering successful conservation, forging powerful new partnerships with other organisations and inspiring others to stand up and give nature the home it deserves.

What does a nature-friendly farm look like? 🦋 Here, farmer Georgie of RSPB Hope Farm paints us a pretty — and informative — picture. 👇 #NatureFriendlyFarming

Pause. Take a moment. The Buzzard soars with a slow, steady beat of wings, its flight hypnotic against the vast sky. Watch as it drifts over rolling hills, free and unhurried. Let yourself sink into the calm of this wild freedom. Nature is waiting — step outside. #RSPBNatureBreak

I’m really looking forward to this event in a few weeks alongside our fantastic nature positive economics team and leading academics from LSE. A bit of insight into what we’ll be covering… Recent research from the Green Finance Institute found that damage to the natural environment is slowing the UK economy, and could lead to an estimated 12% reduction to GDP in the years ahead. We urgently need to close the nature finance gap, estimated at least £6 billion per year, and there are also huge disparities in how the nature and climate crisis are affecting communities and businesses across the UK. This requires an increase in private investments in nature, especially nature-based solutions for climate change. We also need to increase public expenditure for nature, recognising that nature also underpins many social well-being and economic benefits for communities across the UK, which are currently under-valued by the market. Ahead of the Autumn Budget the Government needs to consider the benefits of nature positive fiscal policies, and how nature can help to address many of the wider challenges it is seeking to tackle. There will be networking afterwards too – please sign up on the link in this post. #Finance #FiscalPolicy #Economics #NaturePositive #NaturePositiveEconomics

Slow down. Breathe in the season. Between fallen leaves and tree roots, a Wood Mouse forages amongst the rich colours of autumn. Listen to the soft rustle of leaves, the tap of acorns beneath its tiny feet. This is your sign to step outside. #RSPBNatureBreak

Has nature ever made you cry? We sat down with the stars and writers of The Outrun to talk the natural world, Orkney, and monitoring Corncrakes for the RSPB. The Outrun film, based on Amy Liptrot's memoir, tells a story of rural and urban life, addiction, and the healing power of nature (and RSPB volunteering 😉). It's out in cinemas today.
