It was indeed a terrific week on the river for the Selwyn College Boat Club. They report: - We are very proud to have won the Marconi cup — the award for the club with the most successful Lent Bumps campaign, calculated by the number of bumps per crew. - W2 won blades, bumping on 4/4 days. - W1 won technical blades, bumping 4 times over 5 days. - M1 went up +3 and M2 maintained at +0. The college congratulates its rowers on this success.

On the 24th-25th March (5pm-5pm), Selwyn College Boat Club is launching a 24-Hour ‘Ergathon’ event to raise money for new equipment. SCBC members will row with at least one, and up to four, ergs in constant use for a 24-hour period. We aim to accumulate at least 300km in distance on the rowing machine. We will livestream our progress and donations are welcome via the College website. SCBC is the biggest student society at Selwyn, and continues to grow each year, with recent years seeing particularly strong uptake. However, with this growth comes a greater stretch on limited resources, making alumni support fundamental to our athletes’ development. "When this role at Selwyn was advertised, it immediately clicked with me. I could use my public health nursing skills and tap into my knowledge of physical healthcare and mental health support. Now it feels like my dream job!" Lucy Turnell is Selwyn's first full-time, year-round college nurse, a provision only made possible by generous support from Fellow Benefactors Christina and Peter Dawson. We spoke to her about her role and how the welfare team works at Selwyn. Read our full interview below:

Alongside the offer letters that we sent out to our prospective new undergraduate students at the end of January, selected offerholders also received invitations to Selwyn’s bridging course. This programme is not a replacement for the full induction that all incoming students receive at the start of October, but provides additional and more tailored support to students who meet certain criteria. Our first bridging course cohort of 15 students (pictured with course director Dr Tom Smith at their undergraduate matriculation dinner in October) are now halfway through their first year at Selwyn.
