'emajendat' by Lauren Halsey is now open 💿 https://lnkd.in/eci-YVGm This exhibition transforms the gallery into an immersive 'Funk garden', at the heart of which is a walk-in version of her signature vignettes. The CD clad walls and floor create a prismatic effect, while scaled-up figurines share space with Funkmounds and a live water fountain. "A lot of the inspiration for my mindset has to do with claiming for myself an imaginative headspace I embodied via P-Funk as a pre-teen. I became a hardcore 'Funkateer' as a teenager and by adulthood I was dreaming up future possibilities that revolved around community building, equity, love, neighbourhood pride - all things Funk. That is the texture of who I am." — Lauren Halsey 🎟️ Free entry 📍 Serpentine South 📆 11 October 2024 – 2 March 2025 #emajendat #LaurenHalsey - ‘emajendat’ is made possible by Christian Dior Couture, with major support from Gagosian, Luma Foundation, Pamela and Jarl Mohn and Northern Trust. ‘The Call’ by #HollyHerndon and #MatDryhurst opens today! https://lnkd.in/eNaRcmEW Taking inspiration from one of our oldest coordination technologies, choral singing, this exhibition explores what new rituals we might want to nurture for the age of AI. “If all media is training data, including art,” says Herndon, “let’s turn the production of training data into art instead.” The artists have created an interactive installation that guides visitors through the AI training process, focusing on three core element of AI: compute (computational power), data and model. Visitors can listen to whirring GPU fans play hymns, sing using a choral AI model and look at artefacts adorned with narrative imagery. 🎟️ Free entry 📍 Serpentine North 📆 4 October 2024 – 2 February 2025 - Exhibition made possible by 1OF1, with major support from LUMA Foundation, Nicoletta Fiorucci Foundation, Rosenkranz Foundation and Fellowship.xyz. Special thanks to Pictet Group and d&b audiotechnik. Images: The Call, Holly Herndon and Mat Dryhurst with sub, Serpentine, 2024. Photos: Leon Chew #TheCall

"We need to bring art, science and technology together."   Over the past two years, we've worked with the Tezos Foundation to develop projects on the Tezos blockchain at the intersection of these subjects, including Gabriel Massan's video game 'Third World: The Bottom Dimension' and Judy Chicago's exhibition 'Revelations'. Hear more from Artistic Director Hans Ulrich Obrist who discusses these projects and artists who minted their work on Tezos Blockchain.

We are delighted to have collaborated on the 23rd Serpentine Pavilion, serving as Technical Advisor for the eleventh year and our third year as Project Manager. In this brief time-lapse, watch how this innovative pavilion came to life. We worked closely with Mass Studies, contractor Stage One Creative Services Ltd and technical advisor David Glover to realize this project in close to 24 weeks. Titled ‘Archipelagic Void’, this latest installment was designed by Seoul-based Korean architect Minsuk Cho and his firm Mass Studies.   Archipelagic Void consists of a void at the center of five distinct ‘islands’, the layout referencing the madang – an open courtyard found in traditional Korean houses. Each of the five surrounding structures is unique in terms of size, shape, name and purpose, providing a dedicated platform for Serpentine’s live program for the public to enjoy.   #SerpentinePavilion #MinsukCho #Architecture

This October, the LA-based artist #LaurenHalsey will transform Serpentine North through an immersive installation. https://lnkd.in/eci-YVGm For the past decade, Halsey has developed a distinctive visual vocabulary deeply rooted in the South Central neighbourhood of Los Angeles where she and her family have lived for generations. Reflecting on the way in which South Central's improvisational backyard culture thrives despite a lack of green spaces in the city, this exhibition, titled 'emajendat', offers an extension of the park into the galleries. Visitors can move through sand dunes and enter a life-size vignette. Expect vibrant works that traverse time, cultures and references - floors will shine with the mirrored side of CDs, bespoke wallpaper will provide a backdrop and there will also be a live water feature. 🎟️ Free entry 📍 Serpentine South 📆 11 October 2024 – 2 March 2025

Coming this October: 'The Call' by Holly Herndon and Mat Dryhurst Berlin-based artists and musicians #HollyHerndon and #MatDryhurst are two of the most influential artists working with artificial intelligence today. We're excited to be presenting their first solo exhibition in the UK! 'The Call' will address current societal concerns with AI, envisaging new cultural, legal, and technical methods necessary to build AI systems collaboratively and ethically. It centres on the process of training choral AI models that have been made in collaboration with choirs throughout the UK. To do this, they recorded hymns from a new songbook composed for this purpose by Herndon and Dryhurst. In the exhibition, visitors will be able to sing through one of these models, experiencing their voice turn into the many voices of a choir. 🎟️ Free entry 📍 Serpentine North 📆 4 October 2024 – 2 February 2025 - Images: Holly Herndon and Mat Dryhurst conducting a recording session with London Contemporary Voices in London, 2024.
