This week is Zero Waste Week, and to celebrate, we would like to take this opportunity to shout about what we have recently done to lower our carbon footprint.   In order to reduce the amount of waste we produce and lower our environmental impact, we have recently switched to advanced field monitors for ammonia testing. This change was identified by our field teams and is set to significantly reduce the environmental impact by eliminating the single-use of glass vials' and hazardous chemicals, which were previously disposed of in large quantities each year.   The new monitors not only minimise waste but also provide more accurate readings. This improvement means fewer samples are needed, reducing the travel required by our contracted sampling supplier. This not only cuts down on carbon emissions but also enhances the efficiency of the testing process.    At Severn Trent Services, we are always looking for new ways to reduce our emissions and waste.

Being part of Severn Trent we're extremely proud of the range of new talent options we offer across the Midlands. Recently, some of our amazing team got involved with supporting some year 10 students seeking some work experience. Sophie Baugh, a previous apprentice herself knows that navigating the application process can be overwhelming, so she spent time with each of them to spot the skills and qualifications needed to be successful. Kapil Seth BSc (Hons) MIWATER MCIWEM has a passion for hands-on learning and transferrable skills, so he taught the students about water quality through setting them a task and then getting them to present their findings back. At Severn Trent Services, all employees get two days per year to add greater value to the communities we work in. Our day job is to deliver value to our customers using our water and wastewater expertise. But we aim to go much further than that.
