Recently, we launched the 2nd cohort of the VolkerWessels UK EMPOWER female career development programme. Twelve individuals from across all five business units attended the first two modules held in London and hosted by our partner organisation, Skills 4 and the brilliant Michelle Lewis (FLoL) as the trainer/mentor. The programme is dedicated to advancing female talent and fostering an inclusive work environment. It not only boosts participants confidence but enables them to develop a targeted action plan for success.

I had a blast speaking in a Webinar today to the Skills 4 Alumni network! I talked all things Inclusive PPE and that one size does NOT fit all! Thank you to everyone who came. In the short time I had, I covered my own journey as a young frustrated apprentice with no suitable PPE to where I am today working with Amblers Safety to have a 14 piece (and growing) women’s safety boot collection. I also highlighted some of the great work being done by Katherine Evans including the Bold as Brass Network and Katy Robinson #PPEcharter as well as great work by The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) Sandi Rhys Jones OBE, FCIOB, FWES and BSI in developing a new British standard! There was so much more discussed, it’s a great time of real progress in #PPEforAll and I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to speak in front of a talented female audience from STEM careers. I was also interviewed by Skills 4 CEO Jayne Little to record a special podcast which will be coming out on Spotify soon (more to come when it’s released)! Special thanks to the amazing Jocelyn Currie for all of the preparation going into today! #ppethatfits #ppe #equity #inclusivity
