We continue the #AIinDrugDiscovery Conference with more learnings from the likes of Boehringer Ingelheim, Eli Lilly and Company and Arctoris, as well as hearing about Nesta's Longitude Prize for ALS! 🔹 Enhancing data generation is a common barrier to AI model improvement within drug discovery. Kinga Bercsenyi, PhD, CBO at Arctoris revealed how they are tackling this – using innovative lab automation to drive enhanced data generation, and maximize novel insight generation from machine learning models. 🔹 Lewis Vidler, Senior Director - Structure Based Drug Design at Eli Lilly and Company showcased how they are incorporating AI virtual agents into their ways of working to improve efficiency in everyday tasks. 🔹 We also had an engaging #Virtual presentation from Fabian Heinemann, Head of Data Science at Boehringer Ingelheim, who gave detailed insights into his work in development of AI models for histopathology analysis and anomaly detection in tissue stains. 🔹 Last but not least, we heard about Nesta's Longitude Prize for #ALS from Amalia Papanikolaou, Data Programme Lead and Caroline Purslow, Head of Health, Nesta. It’s been a packed first day at the #AIinDrugDiscovery Conference, here in London - Filled with insightful case studies and engaging discussions covering the acceleration of R&D using AI, AI-driven target ID, computational chemistry and drug design! Missed out ❓Here are some of the key learnings from our discussions so far… 💻 From Prakash Rathi and Christoph Grebner we learned how digitalization and AI can be applied to augment and accelerate the #DMTA cycle. 🔢 Yogesh Sabnis advocated for an approach to drug design ‘led by predictions, driven by data’. 🧬 From Florian Nigsch and Inbal Shapira Lots we learned the importance of better understanding the target and disease biology when uncovering novel drug candidates. 📈 James Lumley and Sathesh Bhat focused on methodologies to accelerate and improve the hit to lead stage of drug discovery. 🙋 Vladislav Kim and Lisa Schneider showed how integrating multiple data sources through contrastive learning can generate a more holistic view of patient health. 🎙️ Finally, Darren Green, Henrik Möbitz, Yogesh Sabnis, and Marcel Verdonk ended the day with a lively panel discussion which questioned how can biotech and pharma work together most effectively to drive innovation and adoption of AI technologies within drug design?
