Last week at SSEN Transmission we welcomed Audrey Nicoll MSP to our office in Aberdeen to have a chat about how we are supporting the #JustTransition for communities right across the north of Scotland, looking in detail at the hero commitments in our recently launched sustainability strategy: https://lnkd.in/etBJMtmw

⚡️ We’ve got a big job ahead of us to deliver our ambitious #Pathwayto2030 programme of electricity transmission upgrades across the north of Scotland – and it’s so important that we build strong connections with our supply chain who are tasked with helping us deliver this essential key infrastructure.   👷 It was fantastic to bring together representatives from across our offshore supply chain in Inverness who will be key in delivering our programme of offshore infrastructure as part of our Pathway to 2030 projects. 🤝 Together, we committed to signing our new Accelerated Strategic Transmission Investment (ASTI) Delivery Charter for our offshore contractors and suppliers, which commits everyone involved to pledge their support to a series a key working principles, including a strong focus on safety, innovation and positive impact and legacy in the communities where this essential infrastructure will be hosted.    👏 Thank you to everyone who joined us!

Last month we took part in the Future Energy System Skills Summit in Glasgow. We were thrilled to be part of discussions that will help shape the future of the energy sector as we work toward a net zero future. This event, hosted by the University of Strathclyde, gathered key players in the industry to address one of our most pressing challenges—transforming the energy skills landscape to ensure we have the right talent for the jobs of tomorrow. With a powerful keynote from Prof Sir Jim McDonald, Principal of the University of Strathclyde calling for accelerated action, the summit emphasized the importance of collaboration across education, government, and industry. The event highlighted research, sponsored by SSE plc, SP Energy Networks (SPEN), and the National Energy System Operator (NESO), that focuses on the network skills needed in Scotland. Dave McKay, Director of Asset Management and Operations at SSEN Transmission , underscored our commitment, stating: "With the expansion of the network, we have the opportunity to show people that we are creating long-lasting high-quality jobs in their communities. ⚡️ We're pleased to announce that we've been awarded nearly £870k in funding to push forward two important projects – SYSMET and REVISE – as part of Ofgem’s Strategic Innovation Fund (SIF) programme!   💡 The projects will explore innovative tools in the Alpha phase to monitor system strength and improve the industry’s understanding of static line ratings to unlock additional network capacity.   👏 Having successfully completed the initial Discovery phase, we’re now moving into the six-month Alpha phase. This next step is all about establishing proof-of-concept through close collaboration with key partners across the energy sector.
