🫶 Our Vulnerability Future Energy Scenarios (VFES) project, run in conjunction with the Smith Institute, enshrines the needs and priorities of those who need the most support in future electricity system planning. 🌍 VFES is showing the way in enabling fairer access to clean, low-carbon technologies, and this leadership has been recognised ahead of the forthcoming British Data Awards. 🏅 VFES – which harnesses the positive power of Explainable AI – will drive a fairer, more inclusive transition to net zero, and we're happy to report that we've been shortlisted in the ‘Innovation of the Year’ and the ‘Data for Good Consulting Initiative’ award categories. 🤞 We’ll find out how we’ve done at the ceremony in May; please keep your fingers crossed for us!

⚡ Overhead lines are a key part of our network – which makes the work our linespeople do all year round so important. Whether that’s installing new lines and poles or carrying out essential maintenance or repairs, everything they do helps to power our communities 👷But what’s it actually like to work as a linesperson with SSEN Distribution? We caught up with Matthew, who joined us back in 1998 and he told us how his career has evolved, what it’s like to work in this varied and rewarding role, and how there’s plenty of opportunity to develop your skills and qualifications. 🔧 Sounds good? Maybe you already hold overhead line qualifications? Or maybe you’re thinking of changing careers? Maybe even starting from scratch? No matter your situation, we’ve got a range of linesperson roles ready for you: https://lnkd.in/eVAJjNjm

⚡ Investing in our network infrastructure is a key part of our commitment to delivering a safe, secure and reliable supply of power all year round for our customers. 👷👷♀️ And this Friday sees the start of a £560k project which will make the network between Uig and Dunvegan as robust and resilient as possible for nearly 1,000 homes and businesses. 🏘️ Over the course of this month-long project we’ll be replacing over 100 wooden poles and installing new overhead lines, all of which will make the network stronger and reduce the risk of power cuts in these local communities.

It's International Women's Day (IWD) tomorrow!♀️🎉 IWD is a day dedicated to achieving gender equality, celebrating women's achievement, raising awareness about discrimination and taking action to forge gender parity. And we are doing all of that! But, we also know that there is an elephant in the room. We have a gender pay gap. Since we started our inclusion and diversity journey, a lot has changed at SSE for the better, but we know that the journey isn't over yet. This is why we're not shying away from our shortcomings; we're tackling them head-on and being completely transparent along the way. But, we're also celebrating just how far we've come, all the effort made by our wonderful teams and the amazing women at SSE! And in the spirit of inclusivity, we've also disclosed our Republic of Ireland median gender pay gap. In 2022, the GPG was 26%, but as of our 2024 reporting dates, it was down to 18.6%. #IWD2025 #AccelerateAction #InternationalWomensDay
