Abbey Wood Travelodge, Bristol, has been shortlisted for ‘Best use of a rain screen system using glass, ceramics or stone' at the Façade Awards UK. 🏨   The project innovatively uses natural slate for its rainscreen cladding, a material more traditionally used in roofing, to create a bold, modern aesthetic. “We wanted the two interlocking volumes of the hotel to be easily distinguishable. The dark, uniform colouration of the natural slate, combined with its rough texture, really helps to set it apart from the coloured aluminium panels.” – JUAN LÓPEZ, Associate Architect.   Good luck to Juan and the project team for the awards ceremony tomorrow. “We can play at tweaking business as usual, but what's really needed is some bold, big-scale thinking. We need built environment professionals to sell the vision of a truly ecologically regenerative future - that's good for nature, good for people and good for business." – Robert Delius, Head of Sustainability    You can catch Rob speaking on the importance of incorporating nature into our developments at the Biophilic Design Conference next week.   🌻 “Future Proofing Cities with Biophilic Design” 📅 12th November @ 14.10  📍 The Barbican, London   Find out more about the conference and grab your ticket here ☞ https://lnkd.in/ex6sWvup

InterCity Place has been shortlisted for the RTPI's Excellence in Planning for Health and Wellbeing national award. Our architecture and interior design teams have worked with Plymouth City Council to turn a tired 1960s tower into a transformational facility for the next generation of healthcare workers. The refurbishment is integral to a 10-year masterplan to revitalise both the University of Plymouth campus and Plymouth Railway Station, designed to massively improve the welcome for visitors and commuters arriving in Britain’s Ocean City. Last night, Bristol City Council unanimously approved our redevelopment plans for Canningford House!   The development for Boultbee Brooks combines modern #office space with the reinstatement of ‘Long Row’, a former connection in the city's urban fabric between Victoria Street and Temple Street.   This strategic move restores a piece of #Bristol’s history, while inviting people into a revitalised public courtyard that will run alongside the much-loved, Grade-II listed Cornubia pub. Creating positive impact is at the heart of what we do, and our ongoing work to create a new primary school for Glyn-coch is a prime example of this commitment. As part of the Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government’s Sustainable Schools Challenge, the school is envisioned as a catalyst for community wellbeing, designed to enhance quality of life beyond the school walls. But if wellbeing is the primary goal, how can we understand local people’s experiences in a meaningful way? ESG Research Consultant, Milly Warner explains how we’re using Impact Analysis - our bespoke framework that combines engagement, research, analysis, and learning - at Glyn-coch to understand the unique factors that shape the town's character and embed community insights back into the design process. Designing a kitchen with a purpose 🧑🍳 Circular Kitchen is a collaborative project between our London studio and Central Saint Martins students to design a portable garden kitchen made almost entirely from repurposed materials. When complete, the kitchen will support Brockwell Community Greenhouses’ outreach programs, helping teach visitors about sustainable food products. Next Tuesday, Flynn Williams will be speaking at the NLA’s ‘Nourishing Communities’ event which will explore the use of food as a catalyst for positive change in city spaces. Quality homes, welcoming public spaces, and strong community connections, Clarence Road aims to create a place where people and nature can thrive. Planning was unanimously approved by Bristol City Council for 435 new homes as part of the Bristol Temple Quarter and St Philip’s Marsh Regeneration Programme. “The city desperately needs new homes and our ambition is to create a new community with a fantastic public realm and great amenities for residents. We worked hard to design buildings that are contemporary, but appropriate to their context and make a lasting contribution to the area.” - Jacqui Pollard, Head of Residential. Temple Quarter regeneration is the UK’s largest regeneration scheme, transforming 130 hectares of brownfield land into a mixed-use community over the next 25 years.
