Mic in hand, mission in heart! Honoured to be part of the British Asian Trust 10th Annual Iftar—an evening of faith, philanthropy, and fantastic food. As a BAT Ambassador, I’m proud to stand alongside incredible changemakers working to break the stigma around mental health and raise funds for life-changing projects in South Asia. Big conversations, big impact, and, of course, a BIG plate of biryani! A huge thank you to CEO Richard Hawkes for his outstanding leadership and to the entire team for making last night such a resounding success. Let’s keep the momentum going—because mental health matters, our communities matter, and together, we make a difference. Every contribution counts. Support the cause today. https://lnkd.in/eGqBh38a #BritishAsianTrust #Iftar2025 #MentalHealthMatters #GivingBack #BreakingBarriers #DonateNow

The British Asian Trust (BAT) is a diaspora-led international development organisation that delivers high-quality programmes in South Asia. It specialises in and champions the use of social finance products to drive positive change across the region, supporting thousands of marginalised women in building resilience against poverty. BAT creates a lasting impact by offering economic empowerment through increased access to finance, financial management education, and resource control. Last night, it was a delight to attend their annual Interfaith Iftar, where nearly 300 leaders, influential individuals, and businesses gathered for this incredible cause—supporting women and children in Pakistan and Bangladesh who have been victims of domestic violence, abuse and trafficking. The gut-wrenching videos of acid attack survivors were a stark reminder of how much our support can sustain and revive the lives of women suffering from various forms of violence. The mental health statistics in Pakistan and Bangladesh are deeply alarming, highlighting the critical need for urgent intervention and support. Thanks to a moving call for donations, an incredible £350,000 was raised for this vital cause. It was an absolute pleasure to spend time with my dear friend and colleague, Dr Hina J Shahid, alongside so many amazing women from my circle—Nafila Khan, Riffi Khan, Umeen Fatima, Sania Sufi, Natasha Syed, Farzana Baduel, Sabin, Ebba Qureshi, Sania Haq, Zahra Shah, EMB HASHMI, Shazia Malik and many others. I also enjoyed hearing from various speakers, including Lord Wajid Khan, the man of the hour himself, Richard Hawkes, Anas Sarwar and the incredible Nusrat Ghani, with whom I had the chance to chat about my books. This marks my third year attending, and as always, the catering and hosting never disappoint. Breaking Iftar with friends is always special, but doing so while championing such a vital cause makes it even more fulfilling. 📷 A collage of photos from the British Asian Trust's Interfaith Iftar event featuring women posing together in traditional attire. The images were taken on phone cameras by Hira and other guests, resulting in varied lighting and effects across the photos.

A pleasure hosting and catering for the British Asian Trust Annual Iftar Dinner at the London Marriott Grosvenor Square tonight. Tonight, we came together—not just to share a meal, but to create real impact. It was a privilege for Spice Village to serve our delicious 3-course meal to some of the most influential leaders and changemakers, turning generosity into action. Most importantly, we raised over £250,000 to support mental health initiatives in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and South Asia—a cause that urgently needs attention and one we at Spice Village Restaurant & Events Group are proud to support and stand behind. This is the power of our community. The power of giving. The power of coming together for something greater than ourselves. Ramadan Mubarak, and let’s continue making a difference—far beyond this month. I'm on a flight to India - but still celebrating another fantastic event for British Asian Trust last night. It was our Annual Iftar at which we brought together more than 300 guests and raised a phenomenal £350,000 for our mental health programmes in South Asia. We had great speeches from Leader of the Scottish Labour Party Anas Sarwar, Government Minister Lord Wajid Khan and Deputy Speaker of the House Nusrat Ghani. It was our 10th Iftar - always such a special occasion breaking the fast with our Muslim friends and supporters. And fantastic to promote our groundbreaking mental health programmes. Thank you so much to Suleman Raza MBE and Spice Village for providing the most fantastic food as a generous donation to the Trust. #RamadanMubarak #Iftar
