𝗦𝗶𝘅𝘁𝗵 𝗲𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗟𝗚𝗕𝗧+ 𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 £𝟭𝟭𝟬,𝟬𝟬𝟬 🌈 Last Wednesday we joined GiveOut and Macquarie Group to celebrate another year supporting LGBTQI organisations around the world. The theme was 'Resisting the Rollback of Rights' and together we raised over £110,000! Thank you to everyone who joined us in supporting these brilliant non-profits. Funds raised will support ASEAN SOGIE Caucus in #SouthEastAsia, Consortium of LGBT+ Voluntary and Community Organisations in the #UK, and The Other Foundation in #SouthAfrica. In the face of oppression and constant threats, they are fighting for the rights of LGBTQI people globally. Thank you to GiveOut for all your support in making this event possible. And a special thank you to Macquarie, a founding partner of this event, for your incredibly generous support of the LGBTQI community around the world. #LGBTQI #humanrights #pride #CityForLGBT Photo by Daniel Lewis

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱! This is an event we're organising in partnership with SA-UK Trust Network to mark the anniversary of the first free democratic elections in the country three decades ago. Despite democracy, South Africa remains one of the most unequal societies on earth. On 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝟰 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 (get your free ticket here: https://lnkd.in/eQEeA3NB) we'll be raising funds for three small organisations: 📌Topsy Foundation NPC Created in 2000 to help orphaned children during the HIV/AIDS pandemic, Topsy Foundation evolved to putting play, learning and health at the centre of early childhood development in the community. Topsy Foundation works in rural South Africa (Mpumalanga province) with over 14,000 women and children every year to provide food security, access to healthcare and quality early learning. 📌Kay Mason Foundation SA The Kay Mason Foundation bridges the gap between primary and high school education for underprivileged 13-18 year olds in Western Cape. Through scholarship, mentorship and academic support, they ensure that a student's financial circumstances are not a barrier to continue their studies.  They are effectively breaking the poverty cycle with education that is valuable in and out of the classroom. 📌Tyume Valley Schools Development Association In an area where Xhosa is the home language, over 40% of children depend on social grants, and most schools have one teacher for all grades, Tyume Valley Schools works with teachers and the community to strengthen the English and maths curriculum and build the schools' capacity.  Tyume Valley Schools supports over 400 children every year. With thanks to Howden for generously hosting us, and to iZinga Assist for kindly providing the hospitality. #ConnectionsThatChangeTheWorld #SouthAfrica #children #ecd #education #TyumeValley #WesternCape #Mpumalanga #fundraising #charity #smallcharities Jill Ritchie Rebecca Smith

Women reporting in the Arab world bring a unique perspective to the conflict and are often more likely to reach stories their male counterparts can’t by the simple fact they’re women. However, they’re also more likely to suffer from sexual assault, threats and other kinds of abuse. MCJN is an online community of Arab women journalists supporting each other through mentorship, professional advice, psychological support and much more. They were funded at our 2023 Spring Connector and raised £23,600 to set up and delivered psychological counselling and one-to-one mentorship for almost 20 women journalists from Palestine, Yemen, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Morocco and Iraq. Philippa Nairn, MCJN’s Executive Director, said “𝙏𝙁𝙉 𝙞𝙨 𝙖 𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙦𝙪𝙚 𝙚𝙭𝙥𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚 – 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙣𝙜, 𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙪𝙣𝙞𝙦𝙪𝙚𝙡𝙮 𝙛𝙡𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙪𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚.” Read more about their story here https://lnkd.in/ej3_6RJ5 #ConnectionsThatChangeTheWorld #journalism #womenjournalists

🚨 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐦𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫: 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐝 Last week, a panel of TFN members selected the three charities that will pitch at the upcoming event: 🏃🏾♂️ Run With It Education Centres works in and around Hull, offering disadvantaged students who are not thriving in a traditional classroom setting, the opportunity to learn in exciting environments like sports stadia and shopping centres. 🛍️ The Free Shop provides basic goods (shoes, clothes, bedding, underwear, toiletries and sanitary items) and services to vulnerable families facing multidimensional poverty in Lebanon. ✏️ Untold Narratives works with creative writers who have been marginalised by community or conflict, supporting them to tell stories in their own languages, be connected to each other, and reach global audiences in translation. Join us Monday 30 Sep, from 5.45pm at the offices of Travers Smith to support them.
