As any small charity will tell you, fundraising is a crucial part of the day-to-day work. Without funds, the vital work charities deliver simply cannot exist. However, over 20 years of experience has taught us that 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 (𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬) 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞 (𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐞). Earlier this month the Black Funding Network hosted their #SummerSocial and the TFN team was there to celebrate! It was inspiring to hear from previous grantees, the fantastic work they do and how transformational collective giving can be. Thank you to ADHD Babes, Alfred Fagon Award and CaribEats Delivery for your moving testimonials! Late last year, we spoke to Patricia Hamzahee FRSA (one of the co-founders of the Black Funding Network) about the legacy and contributions of Black people to British society. You can read the interview here: https://lnkd.in/eK-RPBNq And don't forget that #applications for the next BFN Fall Funder are still open (deadline is 6 Aug). Our July #newsletter is out! Here's what we talked about this month: ☀️ We closed this event season with over £44,000 raised at out Summer Connector for ReconnectEd, Oxford Against Cutting and Breakthrough! 🥊 Our Operations Director, Rebecca Smith, recently visited the Vulcan Learning Centre and told us all about how this TFN alumni has become a vital resource hub for the community in #Hull (thanks to sebastian glazer for a warm welcome!) 💡 Beyond the money, cultivating connections. In the latest instalment of #insights, we look at the value of our events beyond the funds raised. Read here: https://lnkd.in/db5rRXVy 🎬 In 2017 our alumni APPEAL took on Andrew Malkinson's case and managed to get his wrongful conviction overturned. BBC Two has released a 1-hour documentary about Andrew's story. Watch here: https://lnkd.in/e7EEtPsW 📂 Our data is now updated on 360Giving. What a fantastic way to end this event season! ☀️ Over £43,200 raised for three brilliant small charities right in the middle of #SmallCharityWeek. Congratulations to ReconnectEd, Oxford Against Cutting and Breakthrough for all your amazing work and for exemplifying the power of small charities in achieving social change. It was also a privilege to welcome back Give a Book to tell us how their project developed since being funded at this event last year. Thank you Victoria Gray! Last but certainly not least, thank you to Greenbank Investments for such generous hosting. Greenbank have been TFN members since 2008 and have supported over 145 small charities to raise £1.2m+! Make sure to follow us on social media to find out all about this and other events coming up. #ConnectionsThatChangeTheWorld 📷 Photos by the fantastic Daniel Lewis Alexandra Hanratty FRSA John Spiers Kate Agha Ahd Hassan liz parry Katherine Sladden Jerome Neil Charles Keidan Eugénie Harvey Rebecca Smith

𝗗𝗶𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝟵𝟲% 𝗼𝗳 𝗻𝗼𝗻-𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗨𝗞 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹? You most likely engage with small charities everyday and don’t even notice… ☕ Maybe it’s the cosy local café where you get your morning coffee with a pastry to go, like Luminary Bakery ♻️ Maybe it’s the people who have collected your pre-loved items and redistributed them to those that could give it a second life, like Get Rid Of And Donate 💻 Maybe it’s the coding lessons your children have after school, like CodeBrave 🌳 Maybe it’s the nature walks you enjoy in the park that has been recovered by young people, like Youngwilders ⚖️ Or maybe it’s the story you see on the news about a group of lawyers fighting to overturn a miscarriage of justice, like APPEAL (𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘛𝘍𝘕 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘮𝘯𝘪 𝘣𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺!) At The Funding Network we have spent the last 20+ years supporting these and many other brilliant small charities, and we see how vital their work is. Small charities are innovative, highly adaptable and resilient, but above all they’re caring. And you know what? We’re proud to be a small charity ourselves. So let’s kick off #SmallCharityWeek and celebrate those shaping our communities for the better! NCVO #ConnectionsThatChangeTheWorld

𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤? If the answer is yes, then you don't want to miss our Summer Connector next Wednesday 26 June (trust us on this one!) Just by coming along you'll be showing your support to three brilliant small charities: ReconnectEd addresses the root causes of school exclusion by delivering an intensive, trauma-informed programme, improving life chances and saving an estimated £370,000 per excluded child. Oxford Against Cutting delivers survivor-based training in schools and to community groups about harmful body alteration practices and other human rights abuses against women and girls, including FGM. Breakthrough supports people who have experienced injustice to lead, grow and win campaigns, building on their experience of working with the victims of Grenfell. And, we’ll also hear from Give a Book, one of the charities that pitched at last year’s Summer Connector. Give a Book is a charity dedicated to promoting books and the pleasure of reading in the hardest places, including prisons. They will update us on the work they have been doing and the impact the funds raised have had. Join us at the beautiful offices of Greenbank Investments from 5.45pm and celebrate #SmallCharityWeek with us! 🎫 Grab the last tickets here https://lnkd.in/eJeXGkbq #ConnectionsThatChangeTheWorld #fundraising #smallcharity #philanthropy
