We’re thrilled to announce that our team has earned a place on Home Group Scotland’s Development Contractors Dynamic Purchasing System (DPS) Scotland framework, securing work over the next four years and continuing our fantastic run of successes so far this year. Named an approved contractor on the framework for both Lot 1 (projects up to 40 units) and Lot 2 (projects over 40 units), our team will undertake development projects comprising demolition, new build and / or regeneration projects until 2029. The scope of projects is expected to vary and may include elements of conversion and refurbishment works in locations across the central belt of Scotland with key areas of development activity including Dundee, West Lothian, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Our Projects Director, Andrew Dallas, said: “Meeting the requirements for these frameworks is an incredibly stringent and vigorous process, so the success for us on both Lots 1 and 2 is testament to the high quality, innovation and professionalism we were able to demonstrate to Home Group Scotland. “We know and understand the needs of the Scottish affordable housing sector, so it is a fantastic achievement for us to put this expertise to good use for Home Group Scotland over the next four years.” Director of Scotland at Home Group Scotland, Bryony Willett, said: “We are committed to providing the right homes in the right places and to achieve this we must work collaboratively with high quality contractors. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with The JR Group beyond the current development on site in Edinburgh”. Home Group Scotland is no stranger to the work of The JR Group, as work is well underway on a project for them in Edinburgh, on the site of the former Royal Sick Kids Hospital. The team is delivering 31 homes, 20 of which are for social rent and 11 are mid-market rental homes, at the prime city centre location which is anticipated to be completed later this year. Andrew added: “Projects such as the site at the former Royal Sick Kids Hospital in Edinburgh has helped us to really demonstrate the quality of our work to Home Group Scotland. “The award will mean we can undertake larger projects, ensuring more of Scotland’s new and upgraded affordable homes are created to our exacting standards. “With Scotland in urgent need of more housing, we are delighted to be able to help bring more homes to life through the framework and look forward to completing projects over the next four years.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ePzERKCe #construction #buildingScotland #success #affordablehousing #framework

The shortlist for the British Business Awards 2025, in association with NatWest, has been released and we are thrilled that The JR Group has been announced as one of the top eight family businesses in the UK. We will now go up against; Craig & Parsons, Whitby Seafoods, The Parklane Group, Murray Capital, Maguires Country Parks, Clarke, and Land Pod at the awards dinner in the EICC on 24 April. More than 300 companies entered the British Business Awards. The shortlisted businesses were chosen by an independent shortlisting panel. Each entry was carefully examined and judged on their positive impact to their workforce, sector and overall contribution to the British economy. The shortlist will now go forward to the main judging panel comprising of 18 independent judges, all key figures from British industry including Vinodka Murria OBE, Phil Urban, CEO of Mitchells & Butlers and Emma Crystal, CEO Coutts Bank. Alan Jope CBE, former CEO of Unilever and Chair of the judging panel said: “In spite of the economic headwinds facing British businesses, our incredible shortlist shows that leading British companies are thriving and in turn are powering the economy and job creation through their hard work and resilience. It came across loud and clear from the hundreds of entries we received for the awards that businesses are having to innovate and adapt like never before. It’s been inspirational to see the incredible work that’s going on behind the scenes in companies of all shapes and sizes across the UK. “The 2025 shortlist reflects the hugely diverse range of businesses we have in this country, and I know our judging panel are going to have some tough decisions on their hands when it comes to determining our winners.” Our Managing Director John Horne said “We are delighted to be shortlisted for a British Business Award, especially being recognised as a topflight family business. This is our 30th anniversary year, so it means even more to acknowledge the milestone in this way. “Our business is and always has been focused on bringing our family values out to the communities we work in and to give back in any way we can. Being shortlisted is testament to our ongoing commitment as a business to excel and offer a high-quality experience whilst being true to our roots. “We look forward to the awards ceremony in April.” Read more here http://bit.ly/3E3g8Oa #britishbusinessawards #shortlist #familybusiness #awards #30yearsinbusiness

We are absolutely thrilled to find out that we have made it to the shortlist of this year’s Homes for Scotland Awards, with not one, but three of our recent developments. The shortlist, which was unveiled on Friday 14th March, highlighted we are shortlisted across two categories – both Affordable Development of the Year (medium) and Affordable Development of the Year (small). The developments shortlisted include Upper Achintore (Phase 1) in Fort William in partnership with Link Group, Glasgow Road in Stirling, and for McQueen Way, also in Stirling. Upper Achintore in Fort William, which we delivered on behalf of Link Group, has previously been labelled ‘truly transformative’ in bringing to fruition a nationwide ambition to help grow and sustain rural communities in the Highland. This site is a development of 82 new energy efficient homes and has been shortlisted in the Affordable Development of the Year (medium). Both Glasgow Road and McQueen Way developments located in Stirling have been selected for the Affordable Development of the Year (small up to 35 homes) category. Our Projects Director, Andrew Dallas, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to be shortlisted in this year’s Homes for Scotland Awards for three of our key developments – all of which we are incredibly proud of. “As a member of Homes for Scotland, we strive to positively contribute to Scotland’s social and economic growth, through our delivery of social housing developments across the country. These awards really showcase the varied work of the membership, and we are delighted to be recognised amongst the best in the business. “We very much look forward to the awards lunch and to finding out the winners across the board.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e2RMD7Kf #HFS #HomesforScotland #Awardsshortlist #UpperAchintore #StrivingforSuccess

This will be a fantastic project, delighted to be working with Trust Housing Association and North Ayrshire Council. We look forward to seeing it come to life and to deliver much needed affordable homes.
We have submitted plans for a new development of affordable homes on Arran, on behalf of Trust Housing Association, to deliver much-needed homes for the Scottish Island. The plans, lodged with North Ayrshire Council would deliver 26 new homes, featuring a mixture of two- and three-bedroom family homes, including two semi-detached, two-bedroom bungalows, which are designed to be wheelchair accessible. The development mix would offer additional much needed social rented housing to people and families in the picturesque rural location. The site forms part of a larger area of open ground which has already been allocated and zoned for residential development by North Ayrshire Council. Located in the Springbank area of Brodick, close to other Trust Housing Association homes, the proposed development site is currently a vacant field and is located just 10 minutes’ walk from the ferry terminal and many of Brodick’s amenities. These proposed properties would provide vital new affordable homes for the island community, helping to address affordable housing needs on Arran and benefiting residents with modern housing accessible to nearby transport links for travelling both on and off the island. Our Projects Director, Andrew Dallas, said: “The proposed development at Springbank in Brodick, is a vital step in the right direction for Arran’s community, delivering high quality homes in an area which needs more affordable housing options and community investment. Trust mirrors our values in making a positive difference to communities across the country, so it is great to be working on behalf of them on these exciting plans. “As approximately 25% of homes on Arran are currently used as second homes and holiday lets, this proposed new site will give housing options back into the hands of local residents and key workers who are looking for an affordable home. It also supports local employers struggling to attract and retain staff due to the limited housing options across the island. “We look forward to receiving a decision from North Ayrshire Council in due course.” Jackie McIntosh, Assets & Sustainability Director at Trust said: “Our partnership approach to developing these plans for Springbank with The JR Group is aimed at providing much-needed new energy efficient family homes on the island. As Arran’s largest social rented landlord and a strategic member of The Arran Taskforce, we are committed to increasing affordable housing supply and options for residents on the island, with our investment in the project also sure to bring additional value to the local economy.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eFuANEYk #newhomesarran #trustha #thejrgroup #ruralhousing

We are delighted to be involved in a project which will pave the way for Glasgow’s iconic North Rotunda’s exciting new chapter as a Nashville-inspired entertainment venue. We erected scaffolding which accommodates the unique, circular shape of the building, and will enable our partners, John Fulton Plumbing & Roofing, to undertake work to help restore the building to its former glory on behalf of owners, The Forrest Group. Our JR Scaffold team created a fully boarded perimeter scaffold, providing access to all levels of the building and includes a loading bay to allow the loading of materials at all levels. A number of beamed lifting points have been provided to allow for heavy stone to be lifted up into place on the building. The bespoke design includes a roof saddle scaffold which allows access to the glass cupola on the top of the roof, enabling the removal and re-instatement of all its lead. Edge protection has also been erected on the roof to allow the slate roof to be restored. Within the North Rotunda, a bespoke crash deck scaffold has been installed underneath the inside of the glass cupola which acts as a fall prevention measure for the operatives working on the exterior of the cupola. We also erected a tent-like structure scaffold beside the building for when the new cupola is delivered to site. This tent will provide a weatherproof area for it to be painted before it is positioned into place on the top of the roof via crane. Our Contracts Director, John Jack, is leading the project and said: “There is no doubt that North Rotunda is one of Glasgow’s most iconic buildings, therefore we wanted this scaffold to be aesthetically pleasing while meeting our high safety standards – it’s sure to catch the eye of passersby on their way to the Scottish Event Campus (SEC) which comprises the SEC Centre, SEC Armadillo and OVO Hydro. “We’re really pleased with the bespoke scaffolding we have created to meet the needs of the team at John Fulton Plumbing & Roofing as they undertake work to restore this circular building. They are long-standing partners of ours and we’re delighted to have the opportunity to work alongside them on this unique piece of architecture in Glasgow.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/etXM39Fk #scaffolding #Glasgow #restoration

The JR Ramblers are set to lace up their walking boots once again in aid of supporting a much-deserving, local charity. Members of our team are taking part in this year’s The Kiltwalk in Glasgow on 27 April in order to raise funds for Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity. Glasgow Children’s Hospital is based in Govan and cares for babies, children and young people from across Scotland and beyond. Generations of families continue to experience the love and compassion of the staff who care for them while they have a child in hospital. Donations made to the charity help to fund life-changing equipment, support services and research at Scotland's largest children's hospital. The JR Ramblers have been training hard for the walk which will span about 23 miles from Glasgow to Balloch. We would really appreciate your support if you could spare a donation for this wonderful cause. We have set a target of £3,000 and are already almost a third of the way there, thanks to the kind donations we’ve received through our JustGiving page: https://lnkd.in/edD6csJr #GlasgowKiltwalk #charity

As part of our commitment to support the communities in which we build, we have kitted out the Edinburgh-based Hutchinson Vale Community Football Club’s Under 10’s team with 36 brand new Adidas training tops – and don’t they look the part! The youngsters, all aged ten and 11, can now wear the new kits when they meet at the club’s grounds on Fords Road twice a week for training. We’re currently undertaking a project in the area to deliver 31 one- and two-bedroom apartments for social and mid-market rent on behalf of Home Group on the site of the former Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Edinburgh, close to where the team trains. Gayle O’Hear, Construction Administration Manager at The JR Group, said: “As well as being a fantastic local organisation encouraging Edinburgh kids to stay active, on the doorstep of one of our developments. This Edinburgh site is perfectly located for all the outdoor amenities of The Meadows so it is great to promote outdoor sports. “The new strips looks incredibly smart on the team so we look forward to seeing them train with The JR Group logo on their backs in the weeks and months ahead. “Work is progressing well on the new apartments. The scaffolding is starting to be dismantled, and work is underway to install kitchens, bathrooms and doors.” Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e9napEuU #communityfootball #construction #newhomes #Edinburgh
