Tritax Big Box’s social value stategy includes working with great organisations like Education and Employers and The King's Trust where we engage with a diverse range of teenagers to show them the broad range of roles on offer within the property sector. Young people have an idea as to what a doctor or a soldier does, however, what is a Chartered Surveyor????? Industrial and logistics property was previously seen as the 'grubby' asset type (not by all!) and not as glamorous as trophy office blocks or shiny shopping centres. With the development of e-commerce and expertise in supply chain mapping, plus sharpening of yields and dominance of investment transactions, it has definitely become the 'Cinderella' sector. This shift has encouraged many more women to appreciate how interesting and vibrant a career in the sector can be. Recognition and achieving senior roles is happening, albeit slowly. I greatly value my network of talented female ‘Shed’ allies; many of whom should be in this article too! There’s an impressive array nudging at the C Suite level and thus I’m really positive for the impact which they’ll have, both culturally and financially for the sector.
