A University of Birmingham spin-out has developed an innovative process that uses an electrical force to create ultra-fine nanofibers by drawing threads of polymer from solution. The team of researchers behind the spin-out expects to redefine industry standards for thermal insulators. We’re celebrating UCL student ventures as part of Universities UK’s #UnisStartUpTheUK campaign. Your Juno was founded by UCL alumna Margot de Broglie (UCL Economics) and her sister Alexia de Broglie. Dubbed 'the Duolingo of money', Your Juno is helping to educate women and non-binary people about personal finance. The business has raised over £2.5 million in investment. Margot and Alexia received support for Your Juno through the Hatchery incubator programme at BaseKX, UCL’s dedicated entrepreneurship hub in King’s Cross. As well as access to free office space, they were paired with mentors and received bespoke business support. Margot is keen to encourage other budding entrepreneurs to take advantage of UCL’s support: “There’s a brilliant community here, and a lot available to help you with your business ideas, so if you’re thinking of setting up your own thing, make sure you tap into that.
