Value For Women Ltd.'s Dr. Silvia Emili, PhD and Trina Roy were in Dubai last week to officially kick off the We Fund Climate Immersive Series on the sidelines of GITEX GLOBAL Largest Tech & Startup Show in the World 2024. Climate finance has not sufficiently tapped into women entrepreneurs' potential to drive solutions for climate action. We Fund Climate, the #VC initiative of IFC - International Finance Corporation’s flagship program She Wins Climate, aims to change that by partnering with #investors to expand opportunities for women entrepreneurs in the #greeneconomy. The Climate Immersive Program brings together 10 fund managers from emerging markets, and equips these climate investors to apply a gender lens to their investment approaches. 💡Here's a glimpse of some of the questions we explored in our time together: 🔹How can investments supporting climate mitigation and adaptation engage women in different roles of women as consumers, workers, leaders, users and innovators of climate solutions? 🔹How can more women be brought into decision-making - as partners/investors, or as part of investment committees to influence the allocation of capital to climate change? 🔹How do VC fund managers better measure gender and climate outcomes? Where do the two meet? 🔹 How can greater interest and momentum be built among institutional investors? We're excited to continue the program online, and support the cohort in developing their own tailored Gender Smart Climate Commitment and Action Plans! Moustafa S. There are a range of care business models that can meet the interests and risk appetites of investors. These can fall within diverse sectors and subsectors– from #childcare and #eldercare to the less obvious, but equally critical, time- and labour-saving technologies, Internet of Things, care concierge, disability care and more. 💼Rewarding and redistributing care work through formalisation will improve impacts for both carers and those being cared for, and will, ultimately, contribute to gender equality and economic development at the societal level. 💡Our Catalysing Care Investments Framework outlines the entry points available to #investors to start investing in the care economy. You’ll be able to see where your existing impact objectives or theses align with the care economy, or how you can make care one of the sectors in which you invest. This report was developed by Value For Women Ltd. in collaboration with the UN Women Asia and the Pacific, with support from International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the Soros Economic Development Fund. 🔗https://lnkd.in/dP5xW8uh Seema Bhatia - Panthaki Sarah Mills Trina Roy Luis Marquez Rebecca Fries Shoshana Grossman-Crist Aparajita Agrawal Jen Green Amy Baum Katja Freiwald Maria Carolina Robino Dr Ishita Sachdeva #genderinclusion #careeconomy #investingincare #caresolutions #IoT

💼Reducing and redistributing unpaid care work, and formalising paid #carework can play a key role in improving gender inclusion in the economy and society. 📈Across Asia and the Pacific, women perform 80% of unpaid care work, representing more than four times the unpaid care work done by men. Meanwhile, the market size and investment potential of the care sector is growing. 💡The Case for Care looks at what the care economy is, the business and impact case for this sector, and the opportunities that exist for investors interested in the care economy in South and Southeast Asia. This report was developed by Value For Women Ltd. in collaboration with the UN Women Asia and the Pacific, with support from International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the Soros Economic Development Fund. 🔗https://lnkd.in/dP5xW8uh Seema Bhatia - Panthaki Sarah Mills Trina Roy Luis Marquez Rebecca Fries Shoshana Grossman-Crist Aparajita Agrawal Jen Green Amy Baum Katja Freiwald Maria Carolina Robino Dr Ishita Sachdeva #genderinclusion #careeconomy #investingincare #caresolutions #gendergap #childcare #eldercare #disabilitycare #IoT #SEAsia #AsiaPacific
