👋 Croeso Health Improvement Alliance Europe ! 🤝 This week, on behalf of Wales, the NHS Wales Executive welcomed a community of healthcare leaders for a two-day visit of collaboration and learning as part of the Health Improvement European Alliance, organised by the Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI). #QualityImprovement A highlight of the visit was the opportunity for participants to explore examples of healthcare innovation with Velindre University NHS Trust, Velindre Cancer Service and Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. 💚 We’re excited to share the latest progress photos of the new radiotherapy unit at Nevill Hall Hospital, which is due to open this summer and will be officially named the Velindre @ Nevill Hall Radiotherapy Unit! The unit will be staffed by a team of Velindre Cancer Service experts and will operate as an extension of our cancer centre in Cardiff, increasing our ability to deliver radiotherapy and helping us to see more patients each week. The Velindre @ Nevill Hall Radiotherapy Unit will treat breast, prostate and palliative radiotherapy patients. 𝗡𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶-𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗳𝗳, 𝘂𝗻 𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲 𝗱𝗶 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘇𝗮 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗶𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗼 ❗ Una delegazione di sei unità tra medici e tecnici del prestigioso Velindre Cancer Service di Cardiff (Galles), ha visitato il Centro Aktis di Marano di Napoli, dando vita a un proficuo scambio di esperienze e conoscenze. Il Velindre Cancer Centre, noto come "L'Ospedale della Speranza", è un'eccellenza nel trattamento delle patologie oncologiche, con oltre 30 anni di attività e un milione e mezzo di pazienti assistiti. Durante la visita, i professionisti britannici hanno potuto apprezzare le tecnologie all'avanguardia dei reparti di Radioterapia e Radiologia, confrontandosi con medici e tecnici del Centro Aktis. Presenti all’incontro anche Benedetto D'Iglio, Area Business Development & Strategy Italia di FORA S.p.A., Ilaria Crippa e Marco Vigano, rispettivamente Product Manager e Application Specialist di United Imaging Healthcare. "Questo incontro rappresenta un'opportunità preziosa per condividere esperienze e conoscenze, con l'obiettivo comune di migliorare la qualità delle cure e offrire sempre maggiori speranze ai nostri pazienti", spiega 𝗩𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼 𝗦𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗮, CEO e Amministratore Unico del Centro Aktis.

Yesterday we attended The Brain Tumour Charity reception at the Senedd, which gave us yet another opportunity to spend some time with the lovely Molly Fenton BCAh ❤️🩵 Listening to Molly speak about the harsh realities of a brain tumour diagnosis opened our eyes to the changes that need to be made, starting with education. 📚 "You feel like you've been useful, and that you've made your mark" At the end of March, we say a sad goodbye to Bernadette Coles, who retires after 34 years as Velindre's librarian. Throughout her career, Bernadette has significantly transformed not just the library, but the way information is accessed and used at Velindre and beyond. Thank you Bernadette, we will miss you! 💻 Paperless workflows for Radiotherapy patients at Velindre are now live! After 2 years of development alongside Varian's Clinical Implementation team, Radiotherapy at Velindre has begun the transition to completely paperless processes, which will help to deliver improved quality, safety and a more patient-centred experience.
