It’s Jane Austen’s 250th birthday this year, and we’re showcasing literary and film locations to US media, driving international visitors to explore lesser-known locations across England. Influential journalists and influencers experienced Jane Austen inspired experiences in London, Hampshire, Bath and the Cotswolds, shining a spotlight on the life of the classic author and filming locations of movie adaptations. #StarringGREATBritain, our screen tourism campaign, uses film and TV to inspire international visitors to explore romantic getaways, adrenalin packed adventures and more across the nations and regions. The US is forecast to be the most valuable inbound market for the UK this year, worth £6.7 billion to the UK economy in 2025.

This week we partnered with Emirates Old Trafford, Lancashire Cricket Club and Marketing Manchester to host a destination training programme and itinerary planning workshop for Indian travel trade in Bengaluru, India. The event showcased Manchester's rich tourism offer including sports, culture and history, and its great connections to other areas across Britain. Our research shows that more than half of Indian visitors book their trip to the UK as a single package. Our work with Indian travel trade ensures they have the skills and knowledge to sell Britain as a diverse and exciting destination, and curate suitable itineraries for Indian travellers' needs. India is a valuable inbound market to the UK, with over 765,000 visits forecast for 2025 and visitor spend of over £1billion to the UK economy.

A few weeks ago I was proud to launch the new VisitBritain #StarringGREATBritain campaign to a select group of partners at the British Embassy in Dubai 🎬🇬🇧🇦🇪 The Gulf Co-Operation Council (GCC) countries are hugely important markets for UK tourism, with a track record of delivering a high return on investment from marketing spend as part of the GREAT Britain & Northern Ireland Campaign. The new campaign is now rolling out across the region, with spectacular activations at City Walk in Dubai and the Jeddah Corniche in Saudi Arabia, and social/digital channels performing strongly ahead of benchmarks. 📈⬆️ My thanks to the VisitBritain GCC team who pulled together one of the best travel events I have had the privilege to attend, in particular Mirna Tamimi Tatiana Khoreshok Rosanna Murphy George Christakis Elias Sabella Manisha Chandarana, and to Edward Hobart CMG and Sarah Mooney for hosting the event at the spectacular British Embassy grounds in Dubai ✨👏 And special thanks and celebration reserved for Carol Maddison for her many years of leadership in the region and incredible service to VisitBritain and UK tourism. 🙏🌟
Lights. Camera. Action! Great Britain was the star of the show on a magical night at the British Embassy in Dubai as we launched our #starringGREATbritain campaign. Team VB GCC hosted media, influencers and partners for a night inspired by the films and TV where Britain has played a starring role. A special thanks to H.E. Edward Hobart CMG, British Ambassador to the UAE, for attending and helping us launch our blockbuster campaign! Watch the latest #StarringGREATBritain 'Got the Shot' short, delivered in partnership with Expedia Group and featuring genre-hopping road trips across Britain to inspire inbound visits today. This time it's the North East of England in the limelight, looking for period drama inspired experiences - from cobbled streets, seaside glamour and jaw dropping stately homes. We know that film and TV tourism is a powerful global trend; more than 9 out of 10 potential inbound visitors to the UK would be keen to visit 'seen-on-screen' locations during a trip to the UK. Underway from early February to March, the ‘Got the Shot’ campaign uses Expedia Group’s global reach to inspire visitors in Australia, France, Germany and the USA to book a trip to Britain right now; all part of our screen tourism campaign #StarringGREATBritain, making Britain's destinations the real star of the show. https://lnkd.in/dp5NdRMg

The USA is the most valuable inbound market for the UK, forecast to be worth £6.7billion to the UK economy this year. Earlier this week we invited influential US media and travel trade to a special #StarringGREATBritain event in New York City. The international campaign harnesses the power of blockbuster British film and TV to inspire visitors to choose Britain today and experience destinations across our nations and regions. The New York Tri-state area is a hugely important region for inbound visits, making up almost 20% of US visits to the UK. Research shows that over 80% of US travellers would be interested in visiting seen-on-screen locations during a trip to the UK.

📰 Great to see coverage in the #Gulf's Campaign Middle East on our #StarringGREATBritain screen tourism campaign, with comments from our CEO Patricia Yates & Director of Marketing Robin Johnson. The #GCC is an incredibly important inbound visitor market, forecast to be worth £3.5 billion to the UK economy this year. To harness this growth, our #StarringGREATBritain campaign is using the hook of films and TV 🎬 to showcase our dynamic and diverse destinations, telling the story of Britain to inspire visitors from the GCC to explore more and to come and visit now. With the growing airline connectivity from the Gulf to the UK through regional gateways alongside the Electronic Travel Authorisation scheme, travel to the UK is now easier and more accessible for GCC nationals. #StarringGREATBritain is inspiring more visitors from the GCC to step into the scenes from their favourite films and TV shows, put themselves in the picture and come and see the REAL star of the show - Britain.
