Kicking off our Wellness Month with a project throwback – University of Leeds, Ester Simpson Building. We reimagined the seating to create a truly inclusive space for students. The café was cleverly zoned using tall, mobile planters, offering both privacy and flexible use. High-capacity dining tables and stackable chairs make it easy to transform the space for events. We added a mix of soft seating, from low bamboo sofas to cozy wingback chairs, alongside banquette seating and intimate table setups – ensuring there’s a spot for everyone. And of course, we couldn’t resist filling the space with lush biophilic elements to bring it all together! #wellness #project

Right from the outset, this new space provides a serene, biophilic feel yet this is flawlessly blended with integrated technology at every point. Working with Wagstaff Interiors Group furniture providers, our HotLocker system provides tech-enabled personal storage spaces. The Wagstaff team visited .mdd at their showroom for an exciting training lunch. The team got to learn of some new products, collections and projects they have been working on. .mdd explore an individuals needs when it comes to furniture and a work space, to find the best and unique solutions. Working on cafes, pubs, public spaces, and more and more often medical facilities, hotels and private spaces, .mdd were not short on projects to show the team. Over a month until Umbrella Furniture’s Managing Director, Matt Clarke will be on the Workspace Design Show London stage, as part of the Inclusivity in Design Talks. Chaired by Design Insider’s Alys Bryan, Matt will be sat alongside Elena Panagiotidis, Managing Director at Siren Design Group and Marco Gastoldi, Associate at Gensler. The talk ‘Balancing functionality, aesthetics and the diverse needs of a workforce’ won’t be one you want to miss!

Project Throwback. The Wagstaff design team had the privilege of collaborating with Travis Perkins to completely redesign their headquarters in Northampton. The project was ambitious, aiming to create a workspace that supported new ways of working while prioritising safety and sustainability. Sustainability was the focus in the project, following Travis Perkins commitment to being carbon net zero by 2035. To support this, Wagstaff replaced traditional lighting with ultra-efficient LED fixtures and transitioned the gas-fired heating and hot water systems to electric, enabling the use of electricity from 100% renewable sources. The new design offers a dynamic environment with a variety of settings to support different work styles, along with comfortable breakout and relaxation spaces that give a more home-like feel.
