Exciting News from North Macedonia! 🎉 We’re excited to share how our work in North Macedonia is making a real difference! Our Operations Director, Vince Smith, recently visited the region, and thanks to our School in a Box initiative, we’re bringing hope and practical support directly to the people who need it most. There are some inspiring individuals at the heart of this project: 📚 Local students who are eager to learn but lack the basic classroom essentials 🍎 Dedicated teachers striving to provide quality education with limited resources 🪚 Skilled community members like carpenters and welders who are stepping up to transform surplus materials into much-needed school desks and chairs 🩺 Healthcare workers doing their best in challenging conditions, with broken furniture and limited supplies During his visit, Vince also met with the Mayor of Veles, who has shown incredible enthusiasm and support for our initiative. The Mayor welcomed our efforts to enhance educational opportunities and improve community facilities. The enthusiasm and support from the local community have been overwhelming, and we’re incredibly excited about the future of this project. Together, we’re not just delivering furniture, we’re delivering hope, dignity, and opportunity 💚 Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to turn surplus into success stories and empower communities for a brighter future! 🌟 Hayley Smith Linda Glover Jade Adderley Michael Amos Tom Holdsworth Paul Curtis Alex Rampelt Mihai RIZAN John Hume Paula Carey Social Enterprise UK Social Value Portal Supply Change United Nations United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD) #Sustainability #ESG #SocialImpact #CircularEconomy #ReuseRevolution #ZeroWaste #ZeroToLandfill

  • 🌍 Empowering Communities Through Culinary Skills🍴 We’re proud to support United Action for Children through our School in a Box programme, helping to transform lives in rural communities around Cameroon. Through their dedicated training programme, young women in rural areas are gaining valuable baking and cooking skills. From learning how to bake cakes and prepare doughs to cooking nutritious meals, these women are now planning to start small businesses to support their families and invest in their children's education 📚 For many of us, buying a loaf of bread is effortless, but for these women, it often means trekking tens of kilometres to the nearest city. Now, they’re empowered with the skills to produce their own bread locally, creating new opportunities for themselves and their communities. And it doesn’t stop there, students were also given small grants to run training sessions in their own communities, sharing their skills and knowledge while generating income by selling their baked goods 🎂 A huge thank you to our corporate partners for providing essential equipment to make these initiatives possible. The return of "Drill Baby Drill" as an agenda heralds a renewed focus on fossil fuel extraction, posing challenges for global climate action. However, corporations committed to sustainability can ensure the momentum of their agendas is not derailed by: 1. Reinforcing Internal Commitments Strengthen Net Zero Goals: Reassess and commit to Science-Based Targets to maintain progress toward net-zero emissions. Invest in Renewable Energy: Expand investments in renewable energy projects like solar, wind, and green hydrogen - money talks and demand can dictate supply. Enhance waste reduction, recycling, and resource efficiency within supply chains - celebrate successes. 2. Leveraging Policy Advocacy Advocate for Pro-Climate Policies: Collaborate with industry coalitions and organisations to push for state-level and federal policies that support renewable energy and emissions reductions. Work with governments, NGOs, and communities to lobby for incentives for sustainable business practices. 3. Innovate in Green Technology Develop Alternatives: Innovate in energy-efficient technologies, carbon capture, and storage solutions to reduce dependence on fossil fuels. Promote Electrification: Transition operations and products toward electrification, particularly in industries like transportation and manufacturing. Show stakeholders that doing the right thing is also the smart way to work. 4. Scale Corporate Influence though your supply chain Lead by Example: Maintain transparent ESG reporting to showcase leadership in sustainability, inspiring others to follow suit. Work with suppliers to adopt sustainable practices, ensuring end-to-end sustainability. 5. Engage Consumers Educate and Empower: Use marketing and communication channels to highlight the importance of sustainability and educate consumers about green choices. Incentivise the adoption of eco-friendly alternatives through product innovation and pricing strategies. 6. Foster Collaboration Partner Across Sectors: Join forces with other businesses, social enterprises, and governments to advance climate initiatives despite political headwinds. Reaffirm participation in international frameworks like the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. 8. Enhance Resilience and Adaptation Focus on Climate Resilience: Strengthen business operations and infrastructure against the impacts of climate change to underline the importance of sustainable practices. Partner with impacted communities to provide resources, education, and sustainable opportunities. Sustainability doesn’t have to take a backseat despite shifting political landscapes. Companies can still lead climate action by doubling down on their commitments, fostering innovation, engaging stakeholders, and emphasising collaboration. By staying proactive and resilient, companies can ensure that sustainability remains a priority, setting an example that transcends political cycles. #SustainabilityMatters #ActOnClimate #NetZeroGoals
