FACT FRIDAY: We’ve been incredibly fortunate to have so many loyal team members over the years – a true cornerstone of our success. Few, however, were as long-serving as Dick Tucker. Dick joined us as a 17-year-old apprentice on 1st January 1927, starting out as a painter before becoming a supervisor at our Streatham branch. He later ran our Thornton Heath stores, eventually retiring in the late 1990’s at the impressive age of 85 – marking the company’s longest known period of service! 🏅 Many others have also dedicated a large majority, if not all, of their careers with Walter Lilly. It’s stories like Tucker’s that highlight our commitment to being a people company with a track record of ‘growing our own’ 🌟 We are immensely grateful for the dedication and hard work of all our colleagues, past and present, and remain committed to supporting them with the training and development they need. After all, we believe that “if we can grow our people, we can grow the business.” #factfriday #employee #longservice #loyalty #dedication #hardwork #excellence #team #appreciation

Following an initial building strip-out, we are undertaking the Cat A and B fit-out of clinical and non-clinical space totalling 3,250m2. This includes the design and installation of an automated laboratory and 930m² Containment Level 3 (CL3) suite, upgraded MEPH systems, new and refurbished lifts, and an ancillary outbuilding. 🔬London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, U. of London (LSHTM), Phase 3B, Keppel Street A major 1,222m2 reconfiguration and refurbishment over three floors of the Grade II listed Keppel Street building. The project aims to support LSHTM’s research into infectious diseases through the creation of new Containment Level 2 (CL2) and Containment Level 3 (CL3) laboratories alongside support areas. Our scope also includes accessibility improvements, a new lift, roof resurfacing, removal of redundant plant and equipment, MEPH system upgrades, and the installation of several new air handling units and distribution systems to achieve a targeted SKA rating of Silver. To celebrate #WomeninConstructionWeek2025, we caught up with some of the women within our business to talk about this year’s theme, #TogetherWeRise, which focuses on the strength, knowledge and impact of women in the industry and how they are shaping its future 👷♀️🏗️ At Walter Lilly, almost one-fifth of our workforce is female, exceeding the national average of 15%. Research shows that diverse teams are more likely to come up with new and innovative solutions, with the contributions of women enhancing the efficiency, sustainability, and execution of these ideas in practice 🌟 We are committed to improving both company and overall industry statistics through our long-term engagement with local schools, which serves to educate young women around the different roles and pathways into construction and attract them into the industry. Dismantling the stereotypes surrounding construction remains an ongoing challenge, but we’re committed to making a real difference. As we approach #InternationalWomensDay on the 8th of March, we want to thank the women of Walter Lilly for their dedication, passion, and hard work. We also express our gratitude to the entire Walter Lilly workforce for continuing to support company-wide efforts to create a truly inclusive workplace that fosters equality and opportunity for all 🤝 #womeninconstruction #internationalwomensday #WICWeek2025 #togetherwerise #breakingbarriers #construction #futureofconstruction #inclusiveworkplace
