It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Darlyn Gutierrez. Diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer in December 2017, Darlyn faced her journey with incredible resilience and strength, enduring numerous relapses over the years. She is survived by her loving husband Gibo, and their three children. Darlyn joined Wood Mackenzie in February 2008 as a client trainer. Over the course of her 17-year career, she held various roles within our Customer Organisation, culminating in her role as Principal Product Specialist. Her dedication, expertise, and leadership left a lasting impact, and she will be especially remembered for her radiant presence and talent as a charismatic MC at our Singapore summits. Darlyn was known not only for her exceptional professionalism but also for her personal qualities. She was cheeky, smart, funny, resourceful, resilient, hardworking, and above all, deeply kind. Guided by her strong Christian faith, she approached life with purpose and a genuine desire to make the world a better place. Her warmth and vibrant spirit left a permanent mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Darlyn was a cornerstone of every community she was part of—whether among her colleagues, her church, or her friends. She had the remarkable ability to connect with people and make lasting impressions on everyone she encountered. Throughout her illness, she drew strength from the unwavering support of her colleagues and the communities around her. She often shared that words like “thank you” could never fully convey her heartfelt gratitude for this kindness. We encourage you to honour Darlyn’s legacy by following her example: be kind to yourself and others, and take the time to process this sad news. Darlyn’s legacy of kindness, courage, and positivity will continue to inspire us all. She will be deeply missed by everyone at Wood Mackenzie and by all who knew her.

Here's your weekly Americas short-term #power insight 💡 January 2025 saw power prices averaging ~$140/MWh in ISO-NE for peak hours, which is more than double prices seen over the last two years. The main driver behind these prices is clearly the consistent cold weather with at least three significant winter storms hitting the US. Demand for the ISO averaged 15.6 GWs during peak hours for the month which is 3% and 9% and above that of the last two years respectively. The cold weather not only drove up demand for electricity and natural gas heating but also limited import and fuel type availability further tightening supply. For natural gas, prices averaged ~$16/mcf for the month at Algonquin Non-G, just ~$3 below the extremes seen in 2022 that were driven by international supply shortages. Prices peaked for the season so far at $33.51 for the 4-day holiday package (1/18-1/21). For more information about power prices or to monitor them in real-time, please visit: https://okt.to/M3gNnj
