Championing the development of wood-based industries for increased prosperity and well-being in Wales.
About us
We champion the development of wood-based industries for increased prosperity and well-being in Wales. We will harness the collective spirit of businesses and organisations to put trees, timber processing and wood products at the heart of the green growth agenda in Wales. Our ambition is to increase the market for wood, find ways to use wood better and to increase the supply and value of the homegrown resource. We are a not for profit, for public good, membership organisation. Guided by our collaborative and cross-sector network of members, we seek to inspire a movement capable of leading a dramatic expansion of the forestry and wood-based industries in Wales.

Quality 🪵 chips in North Wales 🏴 Some of these 5m logs at Coed y Brenin are 70 years old softwoods. If someone tells you homegrown timber is only good enough for fencing or pallets don’t take their word for it. These logs are plenty good enough for beams or cladding, I wouldn’t be surprised if they achieved C24 or higher strength. Check out Woodknowledge Wales guides on the use of homegrown timber 🌲 #homegrowntimber #welshtimber #timberlogs #chips

Woodknowledge Wales members got an update on progress with Pobl's Gwynfaen Project near Swansea yesterday. We were hosted by SO Modular and Hale - off-site and on-site. A big thank you to Warren Rowlands and Lisa Amphlett at SO Modular, Tom Bevan at Hale, Peter Remedios and Elfed Roberts at Pobl Group and all our members. We're all on a learning curve and it's great to see high performance house-making at its best. Home-grown structural timber panels, wood fibre insulation, triple glazed windows and Welsh larch cladding all helping to make the fabric ease the energy needs of these new homes.
