Meet our next speaker Vanessa Carter - AMR PATIENT SURVIVOR AND ONE HEALTH ADVOCATE - EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR AMR NARRATIVE CHAIR OF THE WHO TASK FORCE OF AMR SURVIVORS. Vanessa will be joining us for our Women's Health session at 4pm CET on the 29th November 2024. Biography: Vanessa became an AMR patient advocate in 2013 after surviving a serious car accident and 10-year facial reconstruction that caused a highly-resistant MRSA infection on her face. She was a patient advisor to several organisations including Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) (USA) and served for three years as a member of the World Health Organization Strategic Technical Advisory Group on AMR (STAG-AMR) between 2020 – 2023. She currently serves as a lay member to the Advisory Committee on Antimicrobial Prescribing, Resistance and Healthcare Associated Infection, UK (APRHAI) and is a civil society champion at the Africa CDC. Vanessa is also currently Chair of the WHO Task Force of AMR Survivors. She has won awards for her advocacy including a Woman of Stature (WOS) Woman of the Year Award, FINDdx Voices for Diagnostics Award, and Antibiotic Guardian Award in the Community Communications category organised by the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA). She further was awarded an e-Patient Scholarship at Stanford University Medicine X in the USA. With a professional background in marketing, Vanessa has also lectured on various topics including effective communication and infodemic management in relation to AMR, and completed training by the World Health Organization in 2020. She has also advocated the importance of patient and public involvement and engagement. Originally from South Africa, she now resides in the UK and has worked globally. “Changing the narrative on suicide” World Health Innovation Summit (WHIS) Suicide is a major public health challenge, with more than 700 000 deaths each year globally. Each suicide has far-reaching social, emotional, and economic consequences, and deeply affects individuals and communities worldwide. The triennial theme for World Suicide Prevention Day for 2024-2026 is "Changing the Narrative on Suicide" with the call to action "Start the Conversation". This theme aims to raise awareness about the importance of reducing stigma and encouraging open conversations to prevent suicides. Changing the narrative on suicide is about transforming how we perceive this complex issue and shifting from a culture of silence and stigma to one of openness, understanding, and support. The call to action encourages everyone to start the conversation on suicide and suicide prevention. Every conversation, no matter how small, contributes to a supportive and understanding society. By initiating these vital conversations, we can break down barriers, raise awareness, and create better cultures of support. This theme also emphasizes the need to prioritize suicide prevention and mental health in policy making, calling for government action. Changing the narrative requires advocating for policies that prioritize mental health, increase access to care, and provide support for those in need. World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) was established in 2003 by the International Association for Suicide Prevention in conjunction with the World Health Organization (WHO). The 10 September each year aims to focus attention on the issue, reduces stigma and raises awareness among organizations, governments, and the public, giving a singular message that suicides are preventable. #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #MentalHealth #WHIS 🌏🌍🌎💡

Müller Managing Director, Chief Investment Officer (CIO) ESG & Global Head of CIO, Private Bank Markus will be joining us for our investment track at 4pm CET on the 29th November 2024. Biography Markus Müller’s research focuses mainly on the structural transformation of economies and societies and on sustainability. He has authored several books and articles on the transformation of society and economies and is a columnist for the Global Policy Journal at Durham University. Markus is Global Head of the Chief Investment Office of the Private Bank, Deutsche Bank AG and in June 2022 he took over the role of Chief Investment Officer ESG in addition to his current function. He is co-chair of Deutsche Bank’s Nature Advisory Panel. Markus began his career at Deutsche Bank in DB Research as executive assistant to the chief economist. During his studies at Münster University in Germany, he acquired broad international experience with focus on China, later working as an Economist at Allianz Life Insurance in Shanghai. Markus has held teaching posts in corporate finance and economics, being a visiting scholar at the Frankfurt School of Finance and the University of Bayreuth as well as at the Banking and Finance Academy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Tashkent. In January 2019 Markus H.-P. Müller published his first book under the title „Neo-Ordoliberalismus –Zukunftsmodell für die Soziale Marktwirtschaft“ at Springer-Gabler. The second book was published in May 2021 under the title “Deutschland und China zwischen Kooperation und Konkurrenz”. His recent book was published in April 2024 under title “India in the 21st Century – On its way to a post-industrial economy”.
