We’re excited to share ‘Reframing the Heat Pump Debate: A Roadmap for Government’, a new WPI Strategy report for HomeServe UK, published today and featured in The Times. Our research highlights the need to shift the conversation around heat pumps beyond just environmental benefits— economic incentives for consumers must be at the forefront of the discussion for the government to meet its installation targets. Tackling the upfront cost of installation is key to unblocking barriers to heat pump uptake. 📌 Key findings: 💵 Households can save £376 to £482 annually on energy bills thanks to lower running costs and tailored heat pump tariffs. 🏠 Installing a heat pump could increase home values by an average of 2.4%. 🔩 More than 1 in 5 homeowners would be more likely to install a heat pump if offered a £60 per month payment option covering installation and maintenance. This morning, the Building Back Britain Commission hosted its fourth roundtable on transport policy with Transport Select Committee Chair, Ruth Cadbury MP. The session brought together industry leaders, policymakers, and experts to discuss practical policy solutions to drive productivity through improved transport systems. A few key themes emerged from the conversation – ✔️ Transport policy must adopt a holistic approach and stop treating road, rail, and aviation as separate systems. ✔️ Passenger and user experience must be at the heart of all transport policy ✔️ Improvements to digital connectivity can boost passenger productivity and improve functionality across the transport network through reliable internet access and real time data sharing. Ahead of further news around the Integrated National Transport Strategy and 10-year Infrastructure Strategy, there is huge scope for the government to break through the barriers to productivity without large scale injections of new funding. A huge thank you to our hosts, Vodafone and London Gatwick, Ruth Cadbury MP, and all those who attended. These insights will help inform the policy recommendations included in our second report, published this spring. We were pleased to support Vodafone with this important research, which highlights the barriers women still face in career progression and the impact of visible leadership in driving change. With over a third (34%) of women believing their gender is a barrier to career progression, the findings reinforce the urgent need for businesses to create environments where women can lead, thrive and succeed. It is great to see the Chancellor Rt Hon Rachel Reeves recognise the importance of tackling gender inequalities in the workplace. As we approach International Women’s Day, this research reinforces why businesses must prioritise policies that empower women to lead and succeed. Vodafone UK are taking important action with its new Women in Leadership Apprenticeship Programme. Having role models at the top matters. Our latest study shows 60% of women say female leadership influences where they choose to work. However, too many still face barriers in progressing their careers. At Vodafone, we’re taking steps to change this. Our Women in Leadership Apprenticeship Programme gives female colleagues dedicated time to develop skills, build networks, and access training to step into leadership. With the government focused on economic growth and expanding opportunities, we’re delighted to have received support from Rt Hon Rachel Reeves for our research and initiatives that empower women. This is critical for building stronger businesses and a stronger economy and ensuring the next generation has the opportunity to lead. https://lnkd.in/emTU3BSk #WomenInLeadership #IWD2025 #IWD #BreakingBarriers #AccelerateAction HM Treasury

WPI Strategy was delighted to host the third BBBC roundtable yesterday - a big thank you to Debbie Abrahams MP and Haleon for supporting.
On another busy day of events, WPI Strategy were delighted to hold the next BBBC roundtable this time on health and social care, chaired by Debbie Abrahams MP. It was inspiring to have so many experts in the field attend to discuss how we can tackle regional health inequalities and support deprived communities gain access to better healthcare - but also better health education in our communities. With the current strains on primary care, it was great to see a consensus on how community pharmacies can lead the way on bringing healthcare back into local communities where people can feel safe and confident in managing their own health needs. The discussion throughout the session made it incredibly clear that you can not discuss healthcare policy in isolation. Each attendee brought unique and justified examples of how health outcomes depend as much on appointment availability, as they do on employment, education, transport costs, digital literacy, and the quality of housing, particularly for the elderly and vulnerable. We are delighted to work with another expert panel and look forward to building on this as we take BBBC's work to Government in the coming months. A big thanks to Debbie and to Haleon for supporting the event. Next up, transport on March 13th!
