It's Supported Internship Day! Evidence shows that on-the-job training programmes such as supported internships are likely to have a very high positive impact on employment outcomes for young people who face additional barriers to employment. This includes young people living with a disability, young people who have been involved with the justice system, or young people with experience of the care system. Here we are yesterday at the DFN Project SEARCHBusiness Leaders Forum with our Toolkit Unwrapped - a resource that offers employers practical guidance on how to deliver impactful on-the-job training to build a skilled workforce. See our practical tips to help you offer effective supported internships: https://ow.ly/RaQv50VpyBr #SupportedInternshipDay #SupportedInternships #YouthEmployment

The Government’s ambition to reform the apprenticeship system, the establishment of Skills England, the Employment Rights Bill, and the Keep Britain Working Review, make it a crucial time to be discussing the future of skills policy. This was the rationale behind our event yesterday with CIPD, where policymakers, academics, employers and other sector experts convened to discuss a wide range of topics, from how young people can be better equipped for future employment, and the role of business in upskilling the workforce, to the key features of a successful Skills England, and how the apprenticeships system can be reformed to better serve marginalised young people. Alongside the breakout rooms, Lord Blunkett, Rt Hon Robert Halfon and Lauren Edwards attended a panel discussion, alongside Barry Fletcher and Lizzie Crowley, to share hugely valuable insights from their time in Government, and outline the key considerations for the current Government going forward. With nearly 1 million young people not in employment, education or training, the moral and economic stakes are high. To avoid letting down a generation of young people requires us to collaborate across this multidimensional policy issue. We were pleased to be able to facilitate that yesterday, and look forward to further collaboration to help shape the future of skills policy.

We're delighted to be at today's National Youth Work Conference, sponsored by National Youth Agency and Youth Endowment Fund. Youth work and trusted adult relationships are a vital part of reducing youth violence, and in identifying young people who are not in education, employment or training, and connecting them into the right support at the right time.
