At Babcock, we’re committed to fostering a workplace that enables everyone who works for us – with different cultures, perspectives and backgrounds – to fully contribute and feel included. Sir Nick Hine, Chief Executive of our Marine Sector, said: “International Women’s Day is a good opportunity to recognise the importance of gender balance and to reflect on the progress we are making to ensure that Babcock is an inclusive place to work, where everyone can thrive.”

As Scottish Apprenticeship Week gets underway today, we look forward to welcoming another 108 new apprentices to our Rosyth facility later this year. From welding and fabrication, to pipefitting and design, our new recruits will take on a variety of trades before joining college in August, where they will spend most of the first year of their apprenticeship. With this year’s theme of ‘Made for Business’, we know first-hand how apprenticeships benefit businesses like ours. Luci, a third year Babcock Apprentice Welder at Rosyth, is just one example of the many budding tradespeople already undertaking a Babcock apprenticeship:

We were pleased to welcome representatives from the Defence Nuclear Organisation and the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero to our Rosyth facilities this week. The visit provided an opportunity for our MOD colleagues to observe the ongoing work to Swiftsure – which will be the first, former UK nuclear powered submarine to be fully disassembled as part of the UK’s Submarine Dismantling Project We also showcased our Missile Tube Assembly programme where we recently announced a £5million investment in a new Computer Numerically Controlled 7 axis milling machine to support activity. The team also saw the build of the Type 31 frigates, further highlighting our contributions to the UK’s sovereign defence capabilities. It was great to host you!
