  • As a key sponsor, we’re proud to support the official opening of Foulston Park Community Hub in Devonport. Babcock has sponsored three areas within the hub, which will support the local community, providing them with an e-sports facility, STEM classroom and workshop area. Previously known as the Brickfields Sports Centre, The Hub at Foulston Park is set to transform health, fitness, youth and community facilities for Devonport and the wider city and will be operated by the Argyle Community Trust. This fantastic new facility has state-of-the-art sports, wellbeing and community spaces in the heart of Devonport with many local people visiting during the Open Weekend to take part in taster sessions, try out the café and find out more about the excellent range of spaces on offer. John Gane, Devonport’s Managing Director is delighted that Babcock is partnering with Argyle Community Trust to provide this impressive facility and said: “This new community hub offers a range of excellent facilities for all ages and we’re delighted to be a part of it by sponsoring three areas within the building. We’ve already booked several events at Foulston Park and hope that local residents will enjoy everything that the Hub has to offer as it opens its doors to the public.” For more information, visit: foulstonpark.co.uk/the-hub.

  • We are proud of the great things that our apprentices achieve through the many opportunities they have to grow, develop and build their careers with us. Recognising the exceptional work of individuals is really important, and the Plymouth Manufacturers' Group Apprentice of the Year awards being held later today aims to do just that! We wish all those attending the best of luck. Holding this fantastic event during National Apprenticeship Week #NAW2025 is a great time to celebrate all the amazing things that apprentices across the city are accomplishing. Well done to everyone shortlisted. We are recruiting a further 239 apprentices and 139 graduates for our 2025 programmes, which means even more opportunities for those looking to create their future with us. You can find out more about the exciting range of roles available with Babcock https://lnkd.in/e-AQfucG

  • As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we caught up with Plymouth born Argyle midfielder Adam Randell, who’s just as passionate about apprenticeships as we are. Ahead of yesterday’s Liverpool match at Home Park, Adam gave us an insight into his experience as an apprentice and the opportunities they can provide in Plymouth, both on and off the pitch! • Babcock is a proud partner of Plymouth Argyle FC and Argyle Community Trust. Ahead of today’s match against Liverpool, we want the team to know that we’re right behind them. We wish our Pilgrim partners the best of luck and there will certainly be the loudest roar from the crowd at the Babcock Devonport end! We caught up with some of the players earlier this week and they shared their views on how our joint working is benefiting the local community as well as the important part fans play during a match. • Senior leaders from our Devonport facility were delighted to visit The Hub at Foulston Park, the new community hub at the site formerly known as Brickfields. As the first key partner on site, we were shown around the excellent facilities which will offer local people a range of modern spaces for all ages. As well as meeting places, there is a soft play area, community gym, classrooms and large digital suite complete with the latest technology.   As we continue working hard to educate and inspire engineers of the future through our ongoing engagement work with local schools and colleges, focusing on science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) based subjects, this new venue is an ideal location to host a wide range of workshops and events. One of our other priority areas of offering long term career opportunities for local people is enabled through this hub, where career skills sessions and drop-ins can be held for all those interested in the wide range of specialist career options available with Babcock.   We are proud to sponsor three areas within this impressive new hub and look forward to supporting the official launch, which is coming soon, along with all the future activities planned.   John Gane, Managing Director at Devonport said: "As one of the largest employers in the South West with a keen interest in supporting the local community, viewing these great facilities as the first key partner on site, which will make such a positive difference to all those living in the area, is fantastic.   "We look forward to the official opening event and, alongside Argyle Community Trust and other partners, seeing the building occupied. By supporting this facility, we can help to provide spaces where people can develop their skills. From STEM based sessions for local school children, to workshops for those looking to build or re-establish their careers, there are a range of exciting options to explore.” Argyle Community Trust

  • As proud sponsors of the West Country Women Awards event, which took place in Plymouth last night, we were inspired listening to stories from some amazing women across the region. Thanks very much to organisers Tess Stuber and Alexis Bowater OBE for delivering such an excellent event celebrating the remarkable achievements of women, and to Devonport’s HR Director, Kerry Cardew, for hosting Babcock’s table. Many congratulations to all those who won the series of awards presented throughout the evening, and to everyone nominated. Hearing first-hand accounts from the ladies supported by the amazing local charity, Gifted Women, was humbling. Their work makes a positive difference to so many lives and it was great seeing so much money raised for such a fantastic cause.

  • We’re proud to be part of this collaborative initiative – Interchange – enabling the sharing of skills and talent across the nuclear enterprise, providing development and upskilling opportunities for our people, and enabling delivery of our nationally important nuclear programmes. This forms part of the National Nuclear Skills Strategic Plan, and builds on the programmes we have at Babcock to enhance our growing workforce’s nuclear capabilities in the UK. Find out more about how this is helping to close the skills gap, and hear from Babcock’s Head of Resourcing, by attending this webinar: https://lnkd.in/eVYxPaDA
