🎮 Mercia Ventures is delighted to announce the £2.6million investment into Middlesbrough-based games studio Radical Forge. Established in 2017 by two Teesside University computer games graduates, Bruce Slater and Frederic Babord, the company has worked with some of the top names in the industry and contributed to games including Gang Beasts, Sea of Thieves, Golf With Your Friends, and Zombie Army 4. The NPIF II funding will enable the company to expand its team with the creation of 15 jobs, take on new and bigger contracts and launch its own game, Southfield, early next year. The investment will enable Scalpel AI to scale its global operations and roll out its technology with major players in the healthcare supply chain, including sterile services, hospitals, and prominent third-party logistics services such as GlobalMed Logistix. Scalpel AI combines computer vision and machine learning to identify and track surgical instruments. It generates a digital twin for each tool as it moves from vendor warehouses to operating rooms.
