Prof Ben Housden University of Exeter talks about the main advantage of using CellTiter-Glo for his group - it "is the ease with which we can use it. It's really a case of simply adding the reagent to the cells, and then incubating for a while, and then reading the signal on a plate reader. So, we could do that very quickly, and we can automate it. We can read thousands of samples per hour." Discover more about his work at https://bit.ly/3AzVUd7 #LabWork #LabChat #CellViability

Promega's European Supervisor and Field Support Scientist, Nans Bodet, will talk about running the Promega Antibody Dependent Cell-mediated Cytotoxicity (ADCC) Bioassay on a Analytik Jena UK FeliX Platform, during our joint partnership day at I-Hub London on Thursday 26 September 2024 with Analytik Jena UK. Antibody dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC) assays using PBMCs or NK cells often face high variability and poor reproducibility. To address this, Promega developed a reporter-based ADCC bioassay with an effector cell line expressing NFAT luciferase and human FcgIIIa (V158) receptor. This assay, which activates luciferase upon antibody binding to target cells, improves reproducibility and reduces variability, retaining Fc effector function discrimination. The ADCC Reporter Bioassay, tested with FDA-approved antibodies like rituximab and trastuzumab, showed excellent linearity, accuracy, precision, and stability indication. It is a reliable alternative to traditional cytotoxic ADCC assays, ideal for low variability and high reproducibility needs. Here, we present application data demonstrating the utilisation of Promega's ADCC assay on an Analytik Jena Felix platform to move the assay into a high throughput environment. As well as the talks there will be an opportunity to network with fellow researchers. Find out more or register for this free event at https://bit.ly/3XdqzWr #bioassays #cytotoxicity #ADCC

🚀 Today, our sales team gathered for a productive meeting. During the meeting, Nikki Peake, our Genetic Identity, Key Account Manager, used the opportunity to recruit men from the organisation to support the development of the UK's Y-STR allele database. This database relates to specific markers on the Y chromosome, passed down from father to son. Sample collection is a simple buccal swab and any involvement is completely anonymous. We used 25 kits today! Nikki said, "The more people we gather this information from then the more we are able to see how common each marker is in different populations. This helps in identifying individuals in forensic cases as well as studying human ancestry." Other men wanting to get involved can go to the website: https://bit.ly/4fOXGXP to order a free kit today! #STR #biomarkers #YSTRAlleleDatabase

Dr Ruth Carmichael, Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the lab of Professor Michael Schrader at the University of Exeter talks about her work in this video on YouTube at https://bit.ly/4cxmWyP or read more about Ruth and the lab's work at: https://bit.ly/4dMKC3m The lab are interested in peroxisomes, the small compartments that are found in nearly every eukaryotic cell. Dr Ruth Carmichael says, "I really like using the Promega kits because we're getting some really nice data out of it, that hopefully will one day be translational into more biomedical research. So, it's really satisfying to know that we are actually producing something that will, maybe, help human health in the future." #LabChat #BiomedicalResearch #LabWork
