🌱 European food-tech start-ups Revo Foods and Paleo have announced a new partnership, backed by €2.2m in EU funding, to develop #plantbased salmon alternatives containing precision-fermented myoglobin. Essential to the taste, texture and nutritional value of meat products, the traditionally animal-derived protein can now be produced through an animal-free fermentation process – an area Belgian food-tech Paleo specialises in.

🌭 BREAKING! Meatable and Sticta Biologicals have received a research grant from The Good Food Institute 🐽 Along with Merken Biotech and the Center for Mathematical Modeling at the Universidad de Chile, the aim of the research project is to develop a precise and genome-scale metabolic model of porcine cells 🐖 This model will help to identify the most efficient way to feed porcine cellsm ultimately increasing yield, and will boost understanding of why cell biology changes during proliferation. This is expected to aid in media and cell line improvements that allow for longer expansion phases at faster population doublings, increasing yield and reducing process variability of #cultivatedpork. 🧫 Read more on The Cell Base 👉 https://lnkd.in/emk2zy6r #culturedmeat #cultivatedmeat #Meatable #StictaBiologicals #Chile #pork #cellbasedmeat #TheCellBase

🌱 Last week, I had the pleasure of attending The Future of Protein Production 2024 at the RAI Amsterdam, where industry leaders, scientists and regulatory experts gathered to explore the next steps in sustainable protein production. 🤝 This year’s event featured a much-expanded space, including a dedicated start-up zone, making room for even more innovative companies and networking. Coinciding with the launch of ATOVA Regulatory Consulting, SLU’s Regulating the Future of Food Conference, the event explored the critical regulatory frameworks impacting cultivated, fermented and molecular-farmed foods worldwide. 💡 The conference buzzed with strategic insights from leading voices, including Ira van Eelen, Ronald Visschers Ivy Farm Technologies' Harsh Amin, PhD, the Food Standards Agency's Thomas Vincent, GOURMEY's Nicolas Morin-Forest, Hannah Lester, Thomas Herget, Melt&Marble's Thomas Cresswell, PoLoPo, Multus' Cai Linton, Merck Group and The Good Food Institute who highlighted exciting developments across the cellular agriculture spectrum. 💚 Thanks for having me #FPP for another smashing year! 🧫 Check out my full review for a closer look at the key takeaways 👉 https://lnkd.in/erkYN3jP
